Vehicle Detail

1971 BMW R 60/5 Frame R 75/5 engine A beautiful classic airhead that has been restored and updated, a like new bike which is mechanically and cosmetically excellent. We have done the bike in a Café style. The project started with a Speedometer/Tachometer fresh rebuild by overseas speedo. The bike had originally 27K miles before the rebuild, the motor 19K miles. We have run and ridden the bike thru several heat cycles, then we re- set the engine torques. The valves got a fresh adjustment, and all the fluids were changed. We still ride the bike so mileage since re-build will change. Currently 110 on the rebuild. The motorcycle frame, swing arm, sub-frame, etc. have been powder coated in a dark metallic blue. The fenders, fuel tank, seat pan, and other painted parts are painted in metallic silver with metallic blue accent stripes. The engine runs great and is in very good condition. The heads got new valve guides and seats, valves lapped into the new seats. New rings were installed and new head and base gaskets, as well as new pushrod tube seals. Engine also got new valve cover gaskets, a clean pan; new pan gasket and new oil filter kit. We installed a new rear main seal and while apart and installed a new oil pump O ring seal as well. We replaced the rear wheel coupling, (Drive spline) All drive splines were cleaned inspected and lubed, including, clutch, transmission input, drive shaft, and rear wheel. We installed new Mikuni round slide carburetors and jetted them with the correct slides and needles. We also installed the needle, pilot, main, and air screw jets appropriate for the R75/5 engine. Carbs are tuned and balanced and have UNI filters, Wheels got new bearings and seals, new Buchanan stainless spokes, and new Michelin Pilot Activ tires. New rear shocks. And front suspension got new fork seals and gaiters. A new Westco AGM battery was installed. We installed new exhaust pipes and new Dunstall replica rev cone mufflers. The bike got a new chassis wiring harness, new engine wiring harness, and new front wiring set. The lighting all works, switches work as they should. All instruments work, as well as brake lights, and turn signals. The gas tank interior is like new with the original red BMW lining. Has new kneepads, original badges, and new petcocks. The Café’ style seat looks awesome and is designed for comfort with some extra padding. The riding position is not too extreme. The bike got new driveshaft boot and clamps and new rubber driver footrests, and grips. The bike has a café seat pan, shortened rear fender, aftermarket tail light assembly, aftermarket turn signals, and a café front fender. New handlebars. New 5 ohm NGK spark plug wires and NGK plugs. Several miscellaneous multiple new parts are not mentioned, but were used in the project. Great running and looking motorcycle for the enthusiast. Check out the multiple pictures showing the details of the machine.
