Vehicle Detail
For auction is a 2004 Tahoe Z71 4x4 black with light grey leather. 5.3 liter V8 (not flex fuel). Automatic transmission. 127.5K miles. I purchased this vehicle in 2012 from Grossinger Chevy in Palatine, IL with 99K miles for holiday road trips and deep snow, and it performed flawlessly. I absolutely love this truck (my “Tank”) and don’t want to sell it but I’ve inherited another vehicle and don’t have the space. It’s quiet and drives smooth as an old Cadillac. Options- Leather seats- Power front seats- Heated front seats- 60/40 folding rear seats- Power folding mirrors- Heated mirrors- Remote locks- 2 remotes and keys- Rear window defroster- Rear window washer/wiper - 2 speed- Stage III 2” inch trailer hitch receiver- Tubular side steps- Dual zone heat and AC- Home link (3 button)- Low tire pressure warning- Automatic on headlights- Roof rack- Auto-dimming rear view mirror- Compass in rear view mirror- Outside temp display- Delay wipers- Driver info screen with instant/average MPG- Daytime running lights- Fog lights- Column sifter- Oil change % status- Owner’s manual- Chilton’s repair manual The Good- The leather seats are near perfect with very few wrinkles. Only the driver side seat shows any real wear.- The heat is very hot and the AC is cold.- The front heated seats heat up quickly.- The 4WD works perfectly.- All of the buttons and switches work.- Near flawless interior.- It has very, very, few rattles or squeaks. They are rare.- It has the trailer hitch and trailer plug but I’ve never used it.- None of the buttons have the words or color worn off as I’ve seen in other listings. The Not So GoodTo start, this is THE most honest listing you’re going to read. I’ve been burned with a vehicle purchased off Ebay and I will not be party to such dishonest behavior.- Bottom corner of inside of passenger back doors have light surface rust.- The front bumper is crooked from the previous owner tapping something. (Repainted 2012 by dealer)- Small one inch scratch on back seat- Rims have a few some flaws but are very clean.- A few small nicks and scratches on the paint, far less than you’d expect on a vehicle of this age and mileage.- The lights on some of the steering wheel controls do not light up anymore – they still work.- New for this winter, the lock on the hatch sticks sometimes if you unlock with the truck off. I’m looking into it but it is not corrected yet. New Stuff and Other Maintenance (Keep in mind I’ve put less than 30K on it in almost 4 years)- New tires in Feb 2016 – 80,000 Bridgestone’s.- Clay barred and waxed exterior in October 2015.- New water pump in November 2015.- New front calipers and brakes pads in November 2015.- New rear bumper in November 2015, Z71 bumpers are painted and known to rust. This was not due to an accident, it had some light rust spots and it was cheaper to buy a new one off Ebay than have the old fixed/painted.- Trans fluid in 2013.- Spark plugs and wires in 2013.- New front driver side hub in 2012.- Front bumper repainted by dealer before purchase October 2012 due to light rust.- Oil changes more often than every 3,000 miles. This was not a daily driver, it was for road trips and deep snow so I changed it before trips no matter what.- Only used gas from reputable stations, a high percentage of BP. Silver or better on road trips because it was soo cheap outside of Illinois.- There is a HVAC flaw with the 2001-2006 Tahoe/Yukon/Suburban’s where the motor that switches the flaps in the dash from hot to cold moves too far causing a clicking noise from the servo gears. I have replaced the same motor twice, not because they’re broke, because they click. Finally spoke to the right mechanic and he said not to push the temperature selectors all the way up to hot or down to cold to stop the clicking. It does not affect the temperature and stops the clicking (And saved my knuckles from sharp plastic in the dash). Feel free to ask any questions and good luck!
