Normal 0 Normal 0 If you have viewed this listing previously, please read the description again as some additions and clarifications have been made. For one, it was pointed out to me that the Limited Edition Goldwing is not technically an Aspencade (it has additional features) so should not be referred to as such. Due to discovering since the initial listing that the sound system does not work, I also lowered the price from the original amount. Finally, the video I posted of it running has also been updated so a new link to that is below. Thank you for looking. A couple of years ago a friend passed away and left his two Honda motorcycles to me: a '77 GL1000 and this 1985 Goldwing Limited Edition. Although neither had been ridden for a few years due to my friend's illness, he did keep them running so that the GL1000 was street-ready and I started riding it immediately. The '85, however, while it had been my friend's "daily driver" and his favorite, needed a brake rebuild so I parked it in my garage thinking I would fix it before long. But truth told, I have never been much into these big touring bikes with all the bags and fairings and such - much preferring the looks of the "naked" '77 - so never got around to doing the repair. In the meantime my wife started bugging me to get the garage space back and, though I cringe to say it, last fall the '85 LE ended up under a cover in my backyard. Now it is being offered for a low as-is price to the person who does want all the extra bells and whistles and has the time and/or money to get it back on the street, which should not require an abundance of either time or cash to do. It has 46,000 miles on the odometer and a clear title. Normal 0 As stated, the primary concern has been the rear brakes. Push in the petal and nothing. The front brake seems to work okay whenever I move the bike either with the motor or by pushing it. Normal 0 One thing I have done is to start it every so often to be sure it keeps running, and have also kept marine grade Stabil in the tank. Thanks to the above and its fuel injection system the bike started and ran good every time. That is, until a few months back when I discovered that, at some point, the fuel cap had been left off and most of the gas had evaporated. Ouch. Since that time, the bike still starts okay but does not run like it did before. While it cranks right up from a cold start and still doesn't run bad then, once warmed up it will sputter and hesitate when the throttle is turned. It is worse at some times than others. In fact, there are days it isn't bad at all. You can check out the video at https://youtu.be/YCuNIkEHJBM to see what I am talking about. Normal 0 The electrical system produces 13.5 volts at idle. When the engine is revved I have seen it go over 14 volts, but sometimes, such as today when I checked, it stayed between 13.5 and 13.8 volts. Although I think the turn signals worked when I first took possession, I noticed recently they no longer do. All the other lights, etc, are still functioning, however. Also, the radio/cassette player does not work. The sound system worked when he rode the bike and he loved it, especially on cross country trips, but when I turned it on to test it found that it no longer works. The tires look good and still hold air well, but given their age and how long they have been sitting in one spot they should be replaced. The battery does not take long to run down even when disconnected and, though it does take a charge and start the bike, should be replaced. Normal 0 Apart from those caveats, all else seems to be functioning. A couple of the aforementioned "bells and whistles" of the add-on variety are missing. My friend had them when he rode, of course, and no doubt showed them to me at some time or another but, frankly, since they meant nothing to me and what I care for on a motorcycle I didn't pay much attention and don't remember exactly what they were, though I think one might have been a GPS. In any case, whatever the add-ons were, they probably ended up in one of the boxes that went to Goodwill after his passing and will not be available. Normal 0 The listing specifies "local pickup only" to avoid misunderstanding but a designated agent or shipping company, of the buyer's choosing and expense, may be used instead. It is up to the buyer to make all necessary contacts and arrangements for that service. Normal 0 A deposit of $400 is due immediately upon auction's end, payable through PayPal only. The balance is due upon completion of the sale, i.e., when the buyer or agent arrives to pick up the motorcycle. Final payment must be made via PayPal, cash, certified check, or postal money order. NO personal or business checks will be accepted under any circumstances. Buyer cannot take possession of the '85 Goldwing until the full balance has been paid. If the transaction is not completed and remaining balance paid in full within seven days of auction end, unless satisfactory alternative arrangements have been made, the deposit will be forfeited and vehicle re-listed. Normal 0 While I have made every effort to describe the 1985 Honda Goldwing Limited Edition being offered as accurately as possible, detailing any defect that is known to me, I am not a dealer and certainly not a manufacturer so can sell the motorcycle only AS-IS with no warranties of any kind expressed or implied, with the following exception: Upon inspection of the motorcycle at my premises by the buyer or buyer's designated agent when arriving to take possession, if any defect is discovered at that time, which was not included in the above description and might affect the vehicle's mechanical, electrical, or structural reliability, integrity, or safety, upon request of the buyer, the transaction will be canceled and deposit refunded. No returns will be accepted and no refunds given once the buyer takes possession, whether in person or through designated agent, and the motorcycle leaves my premises. On Apr-15-16 at 15:47:51 PDT, seller added the following information: To be clear: mostly due to it needing brake repair, I have never ridden this motorcycle so have no way of checking any of the extra "bells and whistles" such as the cruise control. Up until his illness, my friend rode it every chance he had, which in good weather meant pretty much every day that he didn't need his truck for something. He was very particular about good maintenance and everything worked for him at that time including the radio, which I fear was a victim of sitting idle for going on six years and being kept in less than ideal conditions for the past several months. What else not addressed in the description has met the same fate? I cannot say. But this bike was listed for less than $1,000 and needs work before it can be safely ridden. If having working cruise control and the like is important to you, then please do not bid on this motorcycle and look for one that is advertised with everything working (good luck finding one for this price!) because there is no way I can guarantee the functionality of anything I can't test.
