Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 2004 Triumph Thruxton, I’m asking $5600 for the bike. I love this bike and absolutely hate to get rid of it but I’m taking on a few other projects and it has to go. I’m the second owner (the previous owner stored the bike in his house) I searched for months for a carbureted Thruxton to build a custom café racer. I purchased a Norman Hyde TX Classic Era Café Racer Kit from England; with shipping this kit cost over $2,500. If interested, I’ll sell the kit with the bike for an additional $1,500, that’s over $1,000 off! See pictures and read below to see what’s included in the Norman Hyde kit. This bike has the potential of soon becoming a classic soon with the new Triumph water-cooled, modern classics coming. This is a 1st year Thruxton that was made in the UK, not like the later bikes that were built in Thailand. It is also a highly sought carbureted model. The carbureted models are easier to customize, because you don’t have to worry about extra electronics and a fuel pump. The later fuel injected Triumphs have the fuel pumps inside the gas tank, resulting in larger tank (which doesn’t look vintage) and making it difficult to swap out tanks. This bike is in excellent condition, and always meticulous maintained and always garage kept, it looks and sounds fantastic. It needs nothing, ready to go…recently it had new Michelin tires installed, fork oil & engine oil replaced, and new brake pads. The bike has 19,000 miles on it. These Triumph twins are very dependable, easy to maintain, and under-stressed. I’ve read of members on various Triumph forums having over 150,000 miles on their bikes with no issues. I myself have had 6 different Bonneville variants with no problems. So this Thruxton has a lot of life left in it. The bike has over $2,800 in quality accessories (see list below & pictures) including a full TEC Stainless Steel exhaust. This exhaust is an exact copy of the $1,400 Arrow exhaust system. A nice feature of this exhaust is that you can remove the baffles simply by removing a snap-ring. You can adjust the exhaust three different ways to get the throaty rumble that suits you. If you don’t know what a Thruxton is…here’s some background info: The Triumph Thruxton 900 is a British motorcycle made by Triumph Motorcycles Ltd. It was launched in 2004; it was named after the famous Thruxton racing circuit where Triumph won 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Thruxton 500 mile endurance race in 1969, establishing the “café racer” era where standard production motorcycles were modified to improve racing performance. A Thruxton brings back the 1960s café racer culture of modifying motorcycles, rock ‘n’ roll music and teenage rebellion…without all the work. A Thruxton has the essence of a stripped-down racer. Here are some of the differences between a Thruxton and standard Bonneville. Compared to a standard Bonneville a Thruxton: Is more steeply raked; has clip-on handlebars (hunching its rider low and out of airflow).Has rear-set footpegs and upswept exhaust pipes, to aid with control and ground clearance. Comes with bigger pistons and hotter cams. The suspension is taller rear suspension, and has more progressive front fork springs (that are adjustable). The front wheel is smaller front tire for quicker steering over a standard bonneville. Is equipped with lighter aluminum wheels, a tachometer, bobbed fenders and a seat cowl that is pure café racer.
