Vehicle Detail

1968 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport SS396 Convertible clone Spring is right around the corner and this Chevelle drop top is Red and Ready! 1968 was the start in the pinnacle of the Muscle Car era, and a Red 1968 Chevelle convertible is a very highly sought after muscle car. They surely don't come around too often. I purchased this sweet red Chevelle convertible about a month ago. Since then I found a 1969 Chevelle SuperSport hardtop that I decided to restore, so some lucky winner will be the recipient of this convertible. The prior owner had too many projects going on and rarely used this car, so he decided to part with it. I prefer hardtops so this convertible will be going to a new home on Sunday evening. This Chevy has a 350 engine with headers and nice dual exhaust that have the correct 1968 chrome exhaust tips. The 396 emblems were added to make it appear as a 396 car, so making it true to form with a real 396 big block will be up to the next owner. The floors and frame are in really nice shape. I believe the reason the undercarriage held up so well was due to the way this car was always garage kept in heated storage. The hood is a genuine GM steel framed Super Sport hood with new hood insulation. There will be endless compliments coming to whoever is the lucky winner of this rare classic. It was very hard to keep people away while I was just trying to shoot the pictures. The red paint with the black racing stripes really makes this car stand out. I would rate the paintwork as nice drivers quality. The front and rear bumpers are in good condition. A brand new set of four wheel opening moldings were just installed this week. The doors have new rubber gaskets, and a pair of brand new chrome sport mirrors. The black carpeting is newer with a set of four new black carpeted floor mats. This Chevelle is steered with the SS steering wheel, and has an adjustable tilt steering column. There is a new aftermarket AM/FM Cassette player in the dash, but it is not hooked up. The dash was never cut up to fit a CD player, so if the next owner would like to go back to a factory Chevrolet AM or AM/FM radio that would be possible. The split bench seat does have a nice arm rest. The entire interior is not perfect, but appears in relatively nice condition as shown in the pictures. The top is in decent condition, but did have some repair work on the passenger side. In my opinion I would think it could be used for another season or two, but then it would need replacement. It does have the back glass window option. This SS396 lookalike sits on a full set of four B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A tires mounted on Chevrolet Sport wheels with all four bolt on center caps, all four beauty trim rings, and chrome lug nuts. The trunk was coated with GM A/C Delco black and aqua spatter spray to make it appear factory correct. There is a new trunk mat with a jack, jack stand, and crow bar with a full size old school spare tire in the trunk. The previous owner said the Chevelle has been stored since sometime in the 1980's and the mileage may be correct, but I have no way to document that as factual. This car is being sold with an open, clean, and clear Wisconsin title. The Nada Classic Car Price Guide that anyone can look up on-line has the 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 Convertible with a 350 engine valued at $77,395 in high condition, which they consider an excellent overall vehicle that was completely restored, or an original vehicle showing very minimal wear. Note: This value does not represent a 100 point show car or a #1 vehicle. Those vehicles can reach much higher prices. $45,080 in average condition, which they consider in good overall condition that could be an older restoration or a well maintained original vehicle that is completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. They say an average condition car is considered a 20-Footer! They have the lowest condition value at $17,710 being considered a deteriorated restoration or a very poor restoration, but mostly usable "As-Is!" The lowest value does not represent a parts car. These Chevelle convertible's have consistently shown to escalate in value with each quarter. Why not drive the same looking Chevelle convertible for a mere fraction of those prices. Whether you had one as a youth and would like to recapture that glory or you just want to drive around and enjoy your bank account while your investment grows, this may be the droptop you've been dreaming of. Everywhere you drive these cars people are attracted to them like a magnet. These cars are getting harder and harder to come across. This is a prime opportunity to own a piece of muscle car history at a fraction of that price. What you see is exactly what you get! I tried to describe all of the pertinent information, so any potential bidder can make the most informed decision possible before placing their bid. I am a brutally honest person, so if there is anything else you feel I may have missed, please ask me any question you like. I pride myself in answering every question in explicit detail with the utmost honesty. This cool All-American classic muscle car convertible is being offered at "No Reserve" on a quick 3-day auction ending Sunday evening at 8:00pm Eastern time, 7:00pm Central time, and 5:00pm Pacific time. Please make sure you have all of your funds in order prior to placing your bids. The PayPal deposit needs to be paid within 24 hours, and the balance within 72 hours. This red beauty will be safely stored inside until the new owner arranges pick-up. This is a great car to attend the local car shows. Thank You for taking the time to view my auction! Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!
