Vehicle Detail
This 1995 BMW 540i M Sport is one of just 139 6-speed equipped examples produced for the US in 1995. In many ways this car foreshadowed the upcoming E39 car, but this extensively modified example takes it one step further. The car has around 500 horsepower on tap from its Procharged 4.0L V8 plus extensive supporting modifications like a stiffened chassis, M5 clutch, E31 8-series front Brembos and E34 M5 rear brakes. Overall this is a clean sleeper hotrod that comes with a clean Carfax viewable below and benefits from substantial recent maintenance. Finished in its original Alpine White and fitted with 18″ M-Parallels rather than the M-System “Throwing Star” wheels originally used on the model, this car looks largely stock and doesn’t give many hints at what lies under the skin. It is moderately lowered with Vogtland Springs and adjustable Konis, and the rear shows subtle twin tips at the end of a 3-inch exhaust. The only other noted exterior modifications are to the lighting, in the form of Hella clear/red tails, Euro “Smiley” headlights with TSX HID retrofit, HID fogs, and euro bumper trim which deletes the lower turn signal repeaters. The engine is not original to the car, it is an OEM replacement done by BMW 55k miles ago, and sits in a very nicely organized engine bay. Fitted with a Procharger F-1 supercharger, Procharger BOV, air to water intercooler, Miller MAF and Miller War Chip this bay looks about as clean and factory-correct as any extensively modified car we’ve ever seen. Other supporting modifications include an E39 M5 clutch, Siemens 60lb injectors, polyurethane motor mounts, UUC short shifter and UUC DSSR. Braking is handled by e31 8-series front Brembos and e34 M5 rear brakes, and the chassis is stiffened with front and rear seat bars by Racing Dynamics and a front strut tower bar by the same company. Recent maintenance includes the front control arms, tie rods, power steering hoses, trans mounts, and drive shaft center support bearing. Additionally the valley pan gasket, water pump, Guibo, all bushings, oil valve, oil vent valve plate, intake gaskets, cam sensor, fuel filter, all belts and hoses have already been taken care of. Unusually for such a heavily modified car, the A/C is said to blow cold. Original 6 speed manual car Alpine white over parchment 178k miles on car, 55k on factory Alusil replacement engine done by bmw under warranty Clean title The car was bought by the previous owner in 2011 as a stock car. All body panels are vin matching and paint is near perfect. Over the course of a coupe years the car was built up to what it is now, probably the baddest msport in the world. Everything it needed, was dealt with. Interior is like new and all work was professionally done. Car has roughly 3000 miles in it since nearly everything was replaced with new, better components, as follows Maintenance: Upper control arms Lower control arms Tie rod assemblies power steering hoses Cam sensor Valley pan gasket Intake gaskets Oil vent valve plate Oil valve Hood shocks Water pump All belts All hoses Fuel filter Rear main seal replaced All bushings Guibo Center support bearing Trans mounts Exterior: OEM hella clear/red tails Euro smileys with TSX Hid retrofit Hid ellipsoid fog lights Euro bumper trim with signal delete 18" staggered M-Pars Fender liners front/rear Engine/ drivetrain: M60b40 4.0l engine with 55k miles Pro charger F-1 supercharger Pro charger bov Air 2 water intercooler Miller blo thru MAF Miller War Chip Siemens 60lb injectors Moroso catch can O2 digital wideband Poly engine mounts Electric fan E39 m5 clutch JB lightweight flywheel Uuc short shift kit Uuc DSSR Turner ss and Teflon clutch line Bmw sport steering wheel BMW Business CD-RDS w/ 10 disc changer Custom full 3" stainless exhaust, vibrant s/s muffler with super sprint resonator Suspension/ rear/ brakes: Msport PDC electronics are still in place but shocks have been replaced, could be converted back with stock shock, functions still 3.15 rebuilt LSD Koni adjustable shocks Vogtland sport springs reinforced shock mounts Racing Dynamics front/rear seat bars Racing Dynamics front strut tower bar Poly bushings E31 Brembo BBK fronts, e34 m5 rear brakes Interior: Brand new parchment leather sport seats with perfect recover, they look amazing Heated seats New 6 speed knob New headliner and all pillar were re wrapped BAV auto thick floor mats Tinted windows Rear head rests Carbon fiber wrapped trim and shifter console Aem AFR gauge custom mounted with oil pressure and boost gauge, mounted in front of shifter Complete nice tool kit and trunk net Original turbine spare wheel Again, all parts above have less than 3000 miles on them, I just had the car sent to dan miller, owner of miller performance and the car is set up with a very conservative tune. All piping was redone by Dan and he installed anything it needed. Motor is built to handle 500rwhp and is near that. A smaller pulley could produce 550+ hp . Car has about $45000-$50000 dollars into it
