Vehicle Detail
1970 Jaguar XKE Series 2 OTS (Convertible) Opportunity of a lifetime to procure this excellent driving Jaguar XKE S2 OTS from a caring private owner/mechanical engineer. I have owned this car since 1999. The car was purchased from BRITE Voice Company in Orlando FL. The car was sourced by the CEO and Jag enthusiast for use in an advertisement campaign. It sat inside a Class-A office building's air conditioned conference room during the 1990s, prior to my acquisition. Car panels tight and has never seen an accident. Car has NO RUST. In 1999 there was a small rust spot fixed immediately and the car as since never driven rain and is always garaged. Yes car has original motor, tranny, rear end, etc. This is a nice unmolested car. Probably 74,000 original miles. Also drive shafts where gone thru and all drive joints / ball joints / strut shocks replaced. This is a really really nice driver jag. This is a car to drive whilst maintaining show car potential. I searched for many years to find this car. It is a clean S2 with the right options (a/c, ps, convertible, Nardi steering wheel, telescopic steering wheel, british racing green (original willow green) and tan (biscuit) interior!!) The series II has the upgraded cooling system with dual electric fans and bigger calipers over the series 1. While not as pure as the Series I cars, Series II cars are more user-friendly with options on this car like power steering and A/C (Blows very COLD with upgraded compressor but original compressor in a box). No radio installed, clock doesn't work. Nice glass and really nice chrome trim/wire wheels. Always starts, solid car no slow battery leaks etc. Here is most of what has been accomplished to the car over my ownership: Engine rebuilt by the very competent Erwin Schwartz ( http://www.schwarzltd.com/ ) 30 over, special pistons, hard setted values (can use unleaded) New Clutch~ 1,000 miles on rebuilt motor/clutch New fuel lines, gas tank, pump and filters Rebuilt carbs Reworked brakes Engine bay painted in industrial grade PPG paint (resists even hydraulic fluid) New radiator Fan shroud repainted in correct crinkle black Rust in lower panel cut out and welded replacement metal THIS IS IMPORTANT - Correct Pirelli P4000 tires for jag. New ignition, hoses, heat shield, small stuff, etc. The car’s paint and interior are decent. There is some paint cracking on bonnet nose (no rust or putty). A chip and nick here and there. There is a small tear in the top. The emergency brake is weak. Nothing to serious. This is a great driving car and the ultimate classic. There were only 7,852 S2 LHD OTS (Convertibles) built between 1968-1971. Not sure how many are left out there but I can testify this machine is reliable and a pleasure to drive. It is automotive art and the ultimate sports car classic. I am a serious seller please don’t waste anyone’s time. The car is located in my Garage in St Louis, Mo (Ladue). Please feel free to inspect car and/or ask questions (314) 800-4279. This car will be sold to the highest bidder. I require a $1,500 deposit within 48 hours of auction end. Buyer is responsible for pick up. Certified funds only within 5 business days. Thanks for looking -
