It is cosmetically nice enough it could be taken to a local car show with pride, and is dependable (not to mention, exhilarating) enough to be a daily driver. It has a striking silver exterior with charcoal gray/black leather interior, both in excellent condition. Currently the odometer reads 49384 miles. I purchased the car in October 2014. At that time, it had 38723 miles. The car has a clean Car Fax, no accidents or structural issues noted. The car’s exterior is in excellent condition. The metallic silver paint still has its luster. With the exception of a small scratch on the passenger door handle (not perceptible in the photos) there are no scratches or dents or dings on the exterior paint. The MSRP for the base model 500SL in 2004 was $90,000. This car has ALL the options, including sport package, upgraded 18” wheels, and panoramic roof (see through glass) that pushed its original sale price well over $100,000. The wheels are in excellent condition. They have Bridgestone Potenza high performance 255/40 R18 tires on the front and 285/35 R18 tires on the rear that I purchased last year and have less than 10K miles on them. The car’s interior is in like new condition. The dark charcoal leather is spotless, and a striking and hard to find color combination as most of the 500SL’s with a silver exterior came with light gray interiors. There are no tears or worn areas. The dashboard has no cracks or fading. The heat, A/C, and stereo all function as they should. As you would expect from Mercedes, the seats have all numbers of different power controls including a pulsating lumbar massage option. Although I can not document it, I suspect this has been a smoke-free car…it still has that new car smell. The car has always been well maintained mechanically and undoubtable been garaged its entire life based on its exterior condition. When I first purchased the vehicle I had routine service items performed including transmission service, replaced fuel filter and starter battery, and replaced right front thrust arm. Subsequently I have had the catalytic converter replaced. Most recently in September I have had the oil changed and replaced the front brake pads and rotors. It goes without saying the performance, handling and ride of this car is outstanding…and as expected from a $100,000 automobile. The hard top roof collapses into the trunk less than 30sec after activating the switch. It really is an engineering marvel. In summary, this car looks as new, is unique in its number of options, and is an incredible bargain based on its spectacular ride, performance and its original MSRP.
