Vehicle Detail
1985.5 Porsche 944 This is one of the nicest survivor 944 Porsches in the country. The condition of this car is truly exceptional. I bought it from a local North Carolina family who has owned it since 2004. It sold new here in Winston Salem. It appears to have been garaged continuously which explains why the original interior looks showroom fresh. The dash, leather seats and carpet are nearly perfect. No dash cracks, no leather aging or cracking, and all original carpets are NOT sun-faded. They still have that deep coal-black fabric that is so rich about Porsche interiors. The car was professionally refinished about five years ago in the original Guards Red with paint provided by Porsche. It was not rusted or damaged. The elderly owner simply felt the finish was "a little faded". The front air dam is not cracked or damaged, there is very slight curb rash on the very bottom of the spoiler and out of view. There are NO dents, dings or scratches on the body of this car. The 74K miles are correct as verified by the clean Car Fax and I received ALL the service records from the owner that details all services performed since he acquired the car from a family member in 2004. This owner was particular to the extreme...he gave me a journal of every fill up of gasoline that he purchased while he owned it! The original wheels have NEVER been curbed and look almost new. The tires are also nearly brand new. The space-saver spare has never been mounted or used. Recent receipts for major services like the timing belt replacement are well documented. The owner's manual is in excellent condition and the original Blaupunkt demo cassette is still in its jewel box and stored the glove compartment. The car runs and drives just as it did when new. Everything works on the car with the exception of the sunroof which is supposed to lift slightly at the rear. It is not a slide-back roof. My mechanic told me this is common and can be fixed fairly easily but I have not done so. The A/C is ice cold, the compressor was replaced about three seasons ago. There has never been any rust anywhere on this car. I can provide photos of any areas that are not shown in the suite of photos that I have provided. The car is well equipped, but is not a turbo and I have the original window sticker that shows the options on this car. I do not need a turbo car, and I liked avoiding the cost and complexity of the Turbo models. This is not a "fast" car by today's 400 HP standards, but driving a nearly brand-new classic Porsche has its own rewards! There are no mechanical issues and the undercarriage is dry with the exception of very minor fluid weepage (not leaking) from the power steering pump. My Porsche mechanic suggests leaving it as is. Correcting this is not costly in any event. With air-cooled Porsches appreciating so strongly, 944s are a solid investment and far more economical to maintain. This car can be driven anywhere and is located in Central North Carolina.
