Vehicle Detail
2002 Ford Explorer XLTAutomatic V6, 4x4178,000 approximate mileage.Asking $2,500 OBO In Fair Condition / Some work Needed We relocated to Florida this past August. The wife works from home and this vehicle has been sitting in the driveway since. We've decided to sell it so we could get caught up on some bills. We purchased this vehicle with high mileage in February 2012 in Michigan. We believe that we are the second owners. The vehicle has a clear and valid Michigan title. The wife was the sole driver since it was acquired. The vehicle was used for local short distance rural driving during the weekdays (about 4-8 miles a day on paved roads). The vehicle is being sold "As-Is" in fair condition with some maintenance/repair work needed. The vehicle was originally purchased with a transmission issue. It required the replacement of a Solenoid Shift Pack and reprogramming of the Shift Timing Sequence. I replaced the solenoid pack but did not have the programming equipment for the timing. We have received quotes of $300-350 for the programming. If you're heavy footed like me the shift timing is more of an annoyance then anything. In order to allow the vehicle to shift from second to third smoothly, you have to back off the peddle when accelerating. Per the wife; "If you're light footed like me you wouldn't have an issue". The body and paint is in fair condition. There are normal scratches, scrapes, chips, dings and rust present. As with all northern Explores, there is heavy corrosion on the lower rear wheel well and under the doors. The interior of the vehicle is in overall fair condition as well. The cloth seats are free of rips or tears. Some small stains are present. The front interior door panels show some sun fading at the tops. The carpeted flooring is in poor condition. There have been several drinks spilled that never got cleaned up. The vehicle is believed to be mechanically sound with the exception of, the following that are in need of repair/replacement; (1) The odometer display works intermittently. (2) The front and rear passenger side windows need new motors and drop cable assemblies (aprox $150 ea). (3) The rear tires have less then 10% tread life left while the front are like new. (4) The rear passenger wheel barring/hub assembly (aprox $80-120) "I would not drive at high speeds until this is replaced". (5) The heat/ac blend door servo motor (aprox $25). (6) Air conditioning blows hot - I haven't trouble-shot this issue so I don't know if it's a refrigerant level or other more complex issue. (7) The check engine light is on due to the previously mentioned shift timing sequence needing to be programmed. I've tried to be as honest and forth coming with the vehicle's condition as possible.
