It's as quiet as can be inside the cab and the truck takes you down the highway in smooth comfort. The Ram 3500 is powered by a 6-cylinder 5.9-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel engine that delivers 325 hp and 610 lb.-ft. of torque. Its 4-speed automatic transmission has a handy Trailer Mode setting to help minimize those annoying up and down gear changes that take place when you're pulling something behind you -- a feature I'd put to use real often. First Impressions of the Dodge Ram 3500 Turbo Diesel Pickup Truck One glance at the Ram 3500 tells you it's a work truck -- its muscular body lines, big wheels and tires, heavy duty rear springs and high ground clearance are all an immediate giveaway. It's not hard to imagine the truck bed full of tools and supplies -- or a trailer hooked to its hitch -- but the Ram 3500 Quad Cab Turbo goes well beyond functional to pull double-duty as a truck that can move two rows of passengers in pretty decent comfort. The Ram's paint finish and chrome trim are as good as you'll see on any mid to upscale car.And talking about chrome, there's plenty of it, on the massive grille, the aluminum wheels, body side mouldings and multiple emblems. Walk to the front of the truck and you'll see a pair of heavy duty tow rings that'll come in handy for pulling (or being pulled). A look at the back of the Dodge Ram reveals the rigid factory bedliner that protects the bed from scratches and dings, and under the tailgate is a towing package with a Class IV receiver hitch and wiring plug. The truck's oversized power side mirrors with convex inserts are worth a look. Leave them horizontal for normal driving, but flip them up for better visibility when you're towing. Climb in and close the door -- it snaps into place with a solid thump that leaves no doubt that it's shut. Make a mental note to order a set of running boards -- the one accessory this Ram truck needs to help us older folks climb in and out of the cab. My body was sore after hoisting myself into the truck for a week. In the Dodge Ram Truck Driver's Seat Sitting behind the wheel of this big truck makes you even more aware of its size.It isn't difficult to get comfortable though, because the bucket seats have power adjusts that let you configure them into just about any position you like. Flip a switch on the dash to raise or lower the foot pedals to a height that suits you. Adjust the steering wheel and mirrors and you'll be set. The truck is loaded with options. Controls are easy to reach from the driver's seat and a quick read through the manual is all you'll need to understand how things work, even the navigation unit. Put the kids in the back and keep them content by slipping a DVD into the roof-mounted player -- then hand them the wireless headphones that come with the setup so that you can listen to the audio unit in the front, an AM/FM radio with Sirus satellite and 6-disc CD player. Leather seats are stiff but comfortable and both front seats are heated. Gauges are easy to see and read. The large console is split into upper and lower storage areas and the cup holders in front of it are within reach. Zoned heat and A/C helps keep your passengers content. Flip the key in the ignition and the first thing you'll notice is how quiet it is inside the cab. There are a couple of reasons; newer diesels are more quiet than older versions, but the Ram's insulation does a real good job of buffering exterior sounds. My wife was sitting inside the truck, on the passenger side, trying to get my attention as I stood outside the shut driver's door. I couldn't hear a thing, even though the truck wasn't running yet. On the Road in the Dodge Ram 3500 Turbo Diesel Pickup Truck If you've driven older diesel trucks you know they can be sluggish. Not the Ram 3500. It's responsive on acceleration and, while I didn't have a chance to load it down, the truck easily pulled the steep grades and handled the winding curves that I drive every day. The Ram's optional 4-speed automatic transmission shifted with a good, positive feel. Push a button on the column-mounted shifter to switch the truck from regular driving mode to overdrive or to accommodate either a trailer or heavy load. When you're in trailer mode a computer changes the transmission's shift points to minimize rapid up and down shifting. You'll hear the whirring sound of the turbo on acceleration, but it's not loud or offensive, compliments of the well-insulated cab I mentioned earlier. The ride on smooth roads and major highways is surprisingly comfortable, considering the Ram's stiff, heavy duty suspension. You'll find that the ride gets rougher -- more truck-like -- on secondary roads with a more uneven surface. Kids and adults who don't have long legs can ride comfortably in the rear seat during long trips. At 6'1" I'd be pretty comfortable for a few hours, but on longer trips the second row's tighter leg space would probably make me feel somewhat cramped. With a towing ability of 15,850 pounds and a max payload of 23,000, the Ram 3500 is more than capable of handling any type of job I could throw at it. Final Thoughts on the 2006 Ram 3500 Turbo Diesel Truck Towing and payload are usually critical points for anyone who needs a large diesel truck. Compare this Ram to the long bed gas version of the Quad Cab and you'll find that the diesel delivers a little over 6,000 pounds of extra towing capability and the same number of increased payload pounds. Consider your needs carefully now that diesel fuel is more expensive than gas. If you need even more diesel power, wait around for Dodge's engine replacement. The 3500 Ram trucks that arrive on dealer lots starting in January 2007 will be fitted with a 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel. The optional 4-speed automatic transmission will be replaced by an all-new 6-speed automatic. If you're accustomed to driving a smaller truck you'll have to adjust to the larger turning radius on this big Ram. Its curb-to-curb rating is about 49 feet, compared to 39 feet for the Ram 1500 4WD Regular Cab. I drive a pickup truck every day. I don't need a truck as powerful as the Ram 3500, but if I did it would definitely be one of the vehicles on my comparison list. Considering the truck's massive size and load capacity it is surprisingly quiet, gives a decent ride, handles well and has all the interior features most people want and need. The Ram base price is $42,210; the truck tested had plenty of options, including the popular Laramie package, upping that figure to $52,395. Heavy trucks aren't rated for fuel usage, but during a one week test drive I averaged 15 mpg in combined city and highway driving. When you're ready to step up to the big dog of diesel trucks, look no further than this 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT Big Horn Edition. It's loaded up with tons of features and options such as the AM/FM stereo CD, overhead console with readouts for compass, temp, and fuel economy among other items, fog lights, and much more! This one has also been upgraded with power adjustable pedals as well as a sliding rear window.
Power is from the legendary Cummins turbo diesel that cranks out 325 horsepower stock. That's because it's the HIGH OUTPUT version that was optional and usually only found on duallys or six speed-equipped trcks. 3.73 geared anti-spin diff so you can rest assured that this truck can get it done off road should the need arise. The automatic transmission shifts out firmly just like it should. The AM/FM Stereo CD player also has an AUX input jack so you can play music from your phone.
Of course, with only 190k miles, the HO Cummins engine is barely broken-in! It runs PERFECT and has NO BLOWBY. Everything in it works just like it should as well.

If you think "big" and "diesel" are both characteristics that predict a truck will have a noisy, rough ride, the Ram 3500 Turbo Diesel will be a pleasant surprise. It's as quiet as can be inside the cab and the truck takes you down the highway in smooth comfort. The Ram 3500 is powered by a 6-cylinder 5.9-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel engine that delivers 325 hp and 610 lb.-ft. of torque. Its 4-speed automatic transmission has a handy Trailer Mode setting to help minimize those annoying up and down gear changes that take place when you're pulling something behind you -- a feature I'd put to use real often.
First Impressions of the Dodge Ram 3500 Turbo Diesel Pickup Truck
One glance at the Ram 3500 tells you it's a work truck -- its muscular body lines, big wheels and tires, heavy duty rear springs and high ground clearance are all an immediate giveaway. It's not hard to imagine the truck bed full of tools and supplies -- or a trailer hooked to its hitch -- but the Ram 3500 Quad Cab Turbo goes well beyond functional to pull double-duty as a truck that can move two rows of passengers in pretty decent comfort.
The Ram's paint finish and chrome trim are as good as you'll see on any mid to upscale car.
And talking about chrome, there's plenty of it, on the massive grille, the aluminum wheels, body side mouldings and multiple emblems.
Walk to the front of the truck and you'll see a pair of heavy duty tow rings that'll come in handy for pulling (or being pulled). A look at the back of the Dodge Ram reveals the rigid factory bedliner that protects the bed from scratches and dings, and under the tailgate is a towing package with a Class IV receiver hitch and wiring plug.
The truck's oversized power side mirrors with convex inserts are worth a look. Leave them horizontal for normal driving, but flip them up for better visibility when you're towing. Climb in and close the door -- it snaps into place with a solid thump that leaves no doubt that it's shut. Make a mental note to order a set of running boards -- the one accessory this Ram truck needs to help us older folks climb in and out of the cab. My body was sore after hoisting myself into the truck for a week.
It isn't difficult to get comfortable though, because the bucket seats have power adjusts that let you configure them into just about any position you like. Flip a switch on the dash to raise or lower the foot pedals to a height that suits you. Adjust the steering wheel and mirrors and you'll be set.
The truck is loaded with options. Controls are easy to reach from the driver's seat and a quick read through the manual is all you'll need to understand how things work, even the navigation unit.
Put the kids in the back and keep them content by slipping a DVD into the roof-mounted player -- then hand them the wireless headphones that come with the setup so that you can listen to the audio unit in the front, an AM/FM radio with Sirus satellite and 6-disc CD player.
Leather seats are stiff but comfortable and both front seats are heated. Gauges are easy to see and read. The large console is split into upper and lower storage areas and the cup holders in front of it are within reach. Zoned heat and A/C helps keep your passengers content.
Flip the key in the ignition and the first thing you'll notice is how quiet it is inside the cab. There are a couple of reasons; newer diesels are more quiet than older versions, but the Ram's insulation does a real good job of buffering exterior sounds. My wife was sitting inside the truck, on the passenger side, trying to get my attention as I stood outside the shut driver's door. I couldn't hear a thing, even though the truck wasn't running yet.
On the Road in the Dodge Ram 3500 Turbo Diesel Pickup Truck
If you've driven older diesel trucks you know they can be sluggish. Not the Ram 3500. It's responsive on acceleration and, while I didn't have a chance to load it down, the truck easily pulled the steep grades and handled the winding curves that I drive every day.
The Ram's optional 4-speed automatic transmission shifted with a good, positive feel. Push a button on the column-mounted shifter to switch the truck from regular driving mode to overdrive or to accommodate either a trailer or heavy load. When you're in trailer mode a computer changes the transmission's shift points to minimize rapid up and down shifting. You'll hear the whirring sound of the turbo on acceleration, but it's not loud or offensive, compliments of the well-insulated cab I mentioned earlier.
The ride on smooth roads and major highways is surprisingly comfortable, considering the Ram's stiff, heavy duty suspension. You'll find that the ride gets rougher -- more truck-like -- on secondary roads with a more uneven surface.
Kids and adults who don't have long legs can ride comfortably in the rear seat during long trips. At 6'1" I'd be pretty comfortable for a few hours, but on longer trips the second row's tighter leg space would probably make me feel somewhat cramped.
With a towing ability of 15,850 pounds and a max payload of 23,000, the Ram 3500 is more than capable of handling any type of job I could throw at it.
Final Thoughts on the 2006 Ram 3500 Turbo Diesel Truck
Towing and payload are usually critical points for anyone who needs a large diesel truck. Compare this Ram to the long bed gas version of the Quad Cab and you'll find that the diesel delivers a little over 6,000 pounds of extra towing capability and the same number of increased payload pounds. Consider your needs carefully now that diesel fuel is more expensive than gas.
If you need even more diesel power, wait around for Dodge's engine replacement. The 3500 Ram trucks that arrive on dealer lots starting in January 2007 will be fitted with a 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel. The optional 4-speed automatic transmission will be replaced by an all-new 6-speed automatic.
If you're accustomed to driving a smaller truck you'll have to adjust to the larger turning radius on this big Ram. Its curb-to-curb rating is about 49 feet, compared to 39 feet for the Ram 1500 4WD Regular Cab.
I drive a pickup truck every day. I don't need a truck as powerful as the Ram 3500, but if I did it would definitely be one of the vehicles on my comparison list. Considering the truck's massive size and load capacity it is surprisingly quiet, gives a decent ride, handles well and has all the interior features most people want and need.
The Ram base price is $42,210; the truck tested had plenty of options, including the popular Laramie package, upping that figure to $52,395. Heavy trucks aren't rated for fuel usage, but during a one week test drive I averaged 15 mpg in combined city and highway driving.

MS Residents Must Pay The 5% State Sales Tax on all motorized vehicles (7% on anything else such as campers, travel trailers, etc.) and a $100 Title/Doc Fee. All Other U.S. Buyers Will Pay Their Own State Taxes Themselves In Their Home State. All other bidders pay only a $99 Documentation Fee in addition to the winning bid. This covers our costs for a notary, Fedex charges, and other paperwork. Louisiana, Canadian and other foreign buyers must pay a $149 Documentation Fee to cover the extra Fedex and other expenses associated with doing international (and Cajun) paperwork. We do have Mississippi temporary tags available if you desire one for an additional $50. However, we've sent hundreds of cars, trucks, and RVs all over the country without them & nobody has ever had an issue driving home. If you want one, LET US KNOW IN ADVANCE. We do not keep them on hand.
Winning bidder MUST contact us within 24 hours of auction end and make arrangements for payment at that time. Balance due within 5 days of auction end. Payment Must Be Made VIA Cashier's Check, Bank-to-Bank Wire Transfer, or Cash (in person). We must be able to verify funds prior to vehicle delivery. Generally we have almost all titles on hand. However, we sometimes buy vehicles that are dealer trade-ins where there is a payoff involved so the title may be delayed. Feel free to contact us if you need to verify we have the title on hand for a particular vehicle. All Titles Are Held For Up To 14 Working Days For Funds To Clear, Then Will Be Sent via Priority Mail. On Average, Titles Go Out Within a Few Days, But Occasionally There May Be Delays Beyond Our Control. We Cannot Accept Paypal, Credit Card or Escrow Payments.

If you pick up the vehicle at a terminal nearby instead of having it delivered to your doorstep then you'll save even more!
If you prefer to fly in & drive home we'll be glad to pick you up at Jackson Internation Airport ("JAN"), the local Greyhound station, or the Amtrak Depot. Our business hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday (CST). Please arrange your flight times accordingly. We are more than happy to provide free pickup during normal business hours. We no longer will deliver vehicles after-hours or on weekends. Occasionally things pop up like a blown fuse or a headlight going out and after hours a mechanic isn't there to fix it.
