1972 Mercedes-Benz 350SL R107 EUROPEAN MODEL 4 Speed Manual Transmission!!!!! What makes this SL Special is that this is a TRUE EUROPEAN model, with famous higher compression 3.5L M116 engine matted to a SUPER rare 4-Speed Manual Transmission!!! Although most R107s are extremely well built and collectable, the most desirable and collectable of the R107’s are the early production cars with its features – mainly short or “Euro” bumpers, and higher horse-power than its latter cousins, and then add the manual transmission matted to a V8 engine, it just doesn’t get better than this! Now that the W113 230/250/280SL's have become priced out of sight, here comes the early small Euro Bumper 350SL. As recently as the mid 1990's, and early 2000’s you could pick up a nice condition 1971 280SL Pagoda Roadster for around $20,000. Almost in the blink of an eye, that's what a basket case now goes for - with good condition examples regularly selling north of $75k and more. Beside more powerful engine, rare manual transmission this beauty also features more elegant European style “short” bumpers, European One Piece Square headlights and they make this Mercedes look absolutely stunning! Just how the Mercedes-Benz designed the R107 SL! This SL was sitting since 2007. It was imported to California in 1996, and spent time there until its owner moved to Georgia in 2005. Before the car was parked, it was running and driving, and previous owner used it as his daily driver. Unfortunately he left it sit outside under the cover, and weather and time did toll on this beauty. This Mercedes is a fun project, and it is perfect for somebody who wants to do a full restoration, and have a wonderful show car and the investment, especially being a rare 4-Speed Manual model, OR for somebody who can fix it up to be their daily or a weekend driver, and then slowly restore it to its full beauty and potential at their own pace!! You just don’t come across manual transmission V8 107SL’s very often, and driving one is absolute joy (We were fortunate to have couple of manual transmission V8 models throughout the years in our collection!) Walkaround: White paint shows nice, but upon closer inspection you can notice some imperfections and paint cracking and chipping off on the hood. Original Color was rare and elegant Medium Blue (paint code 396G mittelblau) Body is nice and straight, but the floors are rusted out and need to be replaced. . All sheet-metal parts, including the floor boards are readily available for these cars, and they are not very expensive to get!. K&K manufacturing offers all sheet metal replacement parts at very good prices (http://www.kkmfg.com/index.php ) Interior is all complete down to its original Becker Mexico Radio. It is tired and dirty, and it needs to be replaced in order for this beauty to look again like it left the showroom floor! Again, following for these cars is strong and original upholstery is easily obtainable, and affordable!Being a European model, it has manual windows, and no A/C, making it even rarer than its loaded US-spec siblings! It comes with both Hard Top and the Soft top. Original Hard top has some rust underneath, but all glass is nice and complete. Blue canvas top is old and brittle and it needs to be replaced. All in all it’s a very nice and complete car that can make a very nice and fun project, and great return on your investment! It deserves to be restored and put back on the road again!!!
