Vehicle Detail
For sale is my '83 E21 320i - Not wanting to sell, but a move away from Santa Monica requires it. It's a straight, clean, driver, not concours but a very nice car that runs fine - drives well, and does all it's supposed to. The previous owner put in new front end components, shocks, brake lines, brake shoes and pads and improved the drivability of the car. 5-speed shifts fine, has good pickup, it's as good a US spec car as you'd find driving wise. Body is in very good shape - original Safaribeige paint is still shiny and nice - it's been kept out of the sun. As far as I know the car has never been in an accident, and the body supports that. There is only one small wear spot on the trunk, but the rest of the car is very presentable. Interior is straight and clean, drivers seat could use a re-cover and re-stuffing but its workable as is. All the rest of the interior is fine, the dash has the usual couple of cracks, but it's not trashed by any means as you can see. A/C is all there, looks like new tubing was put in, but the air won't go on when the switch is turned - maybe a bad switch, but I would have changed the compressor to a Sanden if I went that way. I live close to the beach so it wasn't a concern of mine. The car ran slightly hot, needle always slightly around half so I swapped out the radiator for a replacement one and new hoses. It runs properly, usually around 1/3 the way up now.Exhaust has a couple of small holes by the bend before the muffler, Ive used muffler weld to seal it and it's fine - don't drive it enough to warrant a full exhaust, but that will have to be addressed eventually if used regularly. There also is a small crack in the head gasket that's been there for a couple of years - previous mechanic put in Bar's Leaks Head Gasket Repair and there are no issues, no water loss or leakage into cylinders - drives fine. Again not an issue since it's only been an occasional driver/club event car.
