Vehicle Detail

Ok all you bowtie fans your day has finally come. All you who long for that by gone era when things were simpler and just worked better. Days when we would ride next to Dad or Grandpa in that old Chevy truck and listen to the game on the single speaker AM Delco radio. Life was perfect as the warm summer breeze flowed through our fingers as we hung our digits out the window like the wing of a Piper Cub. Ah yes, a time when life was easy and full of memories. With that in mind can I interest you in a time machine? What we have here is an absolutely timeless piece of Americana in almost Museum like originality. I found this beauty sitting inside an old broken down garage in the farming town of Caldwell Idaho. I saw just the tailgate as I drove by and a sign in the back window offering a trip back to yesteryear. I pulled in and after a quick phone call had the 75 year old Gent shaking my hand and backing it out for a peek. I learned that he was the second owner and had purchased it in 1994 from owner numero uno. It was purchased in Dillon Montana from Pauls Chevrolet on January 14th of 1972. I also learned how much this amazing Chevy was pampered and cared for by the Attorney who bought it new and rarely drove it except to the hardware store, hence the original 75k miles. Its last oil change was in 2010 and it only shows 78 miles since the milage on the sticker. She still maintains nearly all of her original paint and absolutely all of its original trim. No screws here and there to hold it on either, just perfectly attached and all original. I did reinstall the woodgrain down the center of all the moldings because time just kills all that on any truck. only repainted areas are the roof and the top of the hood. Carl, the second owner bought the truck with 70k miles on it and had only drivin it now and then in the last 21 years. In about 98 he had the rockers and floors replaced for a small amount of rust and coated in POR 15 and undercoated. That is also when he painted the hood and top and I believe the right bedside at sometime. He had the bed coated in a bedliner material and then drove it once in a blue moon. He is a very organized person and very engineer like in his demeanor. He saved all the original papers and every gas receipt too. I have the protect o plate and a stack of other stuff that will go with the sale. Nearly every part is original and works like new. All the gauges, speedo, heater, lights, etc work like new. The stereo does not work but Carl said it did a couple of years ago although he said the speaker was blown. No painting has been done under the hood except to the air cleaner. Even the block is all original GM paint and shows no leaks anywhere. Even all the original grease pen markings are there on the firewall and the radiator core support. the rear bumper is aftermarket and should be replaced. Carl did also have a new HEI distributor installed for better drivability. It truly is like stepping back in time to 1972 and popping the hood for the first time. The undercarriage is clean and looks like a truck with low miles. The interior speaks for itself. Carl recovered the seat when he got it and I replaced the carpet when I purchased the truck. I also had a new billet leather wrapped steering installed because the original one had a few cracks and I just don’t love those big old wheels. The rest of it is bone stock, never cut up and in near pristine condition. The original dash pad is nice and despite a couple of small cracks is very presentable. For all I know the windshield is original too but I have no way to tell. Now the best part, this truck runs and drives like an absolute dream. No Squeaks, No rattles, tight steering, perfect disc brakes, smooth flawless turbo 400 trans, smooth power steering, doors and windows that work like new, no leaks, no vibrations at 70mph just pure unadulterated amazing 1972 nostalgia at its best. I have changed the oil though so I’m afraid that is not original. Also, please understand this is not a brand new truck. No attempt has been made to touch up any paint or hide any issues. it is raw and real and in unbelievable condition for a nearly 44 year old vehicle. So there you go my friends, time travel in all its splendor. I wish I could keep it but I have to many ponies in the barn already. I am someone who saw what amazing looks like and had a chance to own it for a season but sadly has to let a fellow brother in retro Chevy’s enjoy what she has to offer. Don’t miss this chance to drive down the road to yesteryear in what may be one of the most original, well cared for examples of vintage bowties left on the planet. Bid with confidence and good luck. Please contact me if you have any questions. TOM 208-859-6000 Note: I will consider your winning bid a contract to buy. Please have your funds ready before bidding. The code is V1104TDJ so it was from the Flint Michigan plant built on November 4th of 1971 for the 1972 model year. Truck was purchased in Montana on Jan 14th 1972. Also there is a question about what appears to be a dent behind the drivers door down low on the bed. It is a deep scratch with a VERY minimal crease like it rubbed against something while backing from the garage. No rust or bondo. The last question has been to the picture from the inside of the bed underneath and behind the passenger rear wheel of the truck. It looks like a rust through hole and it is not. There is NOT ONE rust through hole anywhere on the truck nor is there anything like the beginning of a rust hole. VERY solid body and truck. Hope this answers any questions you have and should you need photo evidence please text me and I will send you some pictures. TOM 208-859-6000
