Vehicle Detail

Thursday, 10/29/15: I have decided to re-list the vehicle for three days. Two people jumped the bid in the last five minutes by over 100%. The winner then sent an email offering a form of payment that I won't accept (I don't have or want a PayPal account) with a pretty suspicious story. The runner up's info looked suspiciously like the winner. I appreciate all the bidders who were legit. If the winner and runner up wouldn't have made a joke out of the auction in the last five minutes, the bidding was above my reserve and I would have sold to a legitimate bidder but I do think the results would have been different and the only way to find out is to re-list it. I've been asked why I have it on eBay...it's because I have received many unsolicited offers over the years from admirers of the car yet it's hard to gauge the market value of it because I've seen cars in nowhere near as good of condition as mine sell for more and sometimes much less. Montes aren't highly collectible so figuring out the market is tough but those of us who love them, love them. All I want is a fair price and I'm willing to let an auction determine that. I have no eBay feedback score because I'm an honest, old school guy and don't buy much on the internet and have never sold anything on the internet. Update 10/29/15: I've driven the car daily this week thinking it was my last week to enjoy it. The fuel gauge has had the old GM "bounce" for awhile but always settled down until this week. It now seems to be floating without settling. This is a common problem with old GM vehicles and is due to the fuel sending unit on the gas tank going bad. A new fuel sending unit is no more than $25 and it only takes an hour or so to unstrap the tank (after running it as empty as possible or siphoning it) and replace the sending unit. If I were going to replace the fuel sending unit, I'd go ahead and replace the entire fuel tank as a new fuel tank is only $120 and the car is 45 years old and I don't know if and when the tank might have ever been replaced. I've always kept it above 1/4 full to avoid picking up any settling in the fuel lines and pump. Started a business last year and my baby must go! I've had it for 8 years. Bought it in Lubbock, TX and moved it to Phoenix, AZ in 2007. No signs of rust anywhere and sheet metal is in great shape. Garage kept and weekend cruiser. Repainted and new vinyl upholstery and carpet in 2004. Paint is in very good condition. Undercarriage has no rust. Engine runs great but has minor blow by with no smoke. Ready for a fresh engine or years of cruising with the one it has. Hood needs minor adjustment to sit flush on left front side. Factory AC installed but inop. Heat works fine. AM/FM with 8 Track! New Bosch battery. New rims and tires installed in 2012 with less than 2500 miles on them. Gets looks everywhere I go!
