Vehicle Detail
PROJECT CAR FOR FULL AND COMPLETE RESTORATION. Needs everything.RUSTY FLOORS, TRUNK, PANELS, TRAILING ARMS. Tunnel looks solid, but the rest needs full restoration as you can see.SUNROOF HARDTOP is very, very rare and worth upwards of $10k unto itself unrestored condition. Should add significant value to the end product restored car.Car will be sold As-Is. What you see in photos is what I have. Engine separate from car on pallet. Parts that are there will be boxed and provided. Its important to me to ensure that the new owner will restore this car which is why I am keeping the sunroof hardtop with the car (instead of keeping for my 190SL restoration in progress). I do not have the capital to do two restorations at the same time. Car was partially disassembled years ago anticipating restoration, and although fairly complete rusty car there are some bits which I had planned to source or buy from MB. Car was imported from Europe. Never registered in USA. Car will come with Bill of Sale for use in applying for title once roadworthy. The thing that makes this 190SL unique is the Goldie sunroof hardtop, and the “story” that it was special ordered by Nicolae Ceaucescu for his daughter Zoia. I am in the process of getting a signed affidavit from the prior owner regarding the story on the car, and he has also contacted colleagues in Romania to search for any DMV records which might provide proof. The entire floor would need to be replaced and extensive body work as well. See Photos. With that said...it is a fairly complete car: Seats Grill Assm (will need work and rechrome) Rear bumper Hood Deck lid Doors Glass front glass Sunroof Hardtop (no soft top. This is a Coupe 121-040-xxxx) Matching # engine (Disassembled - needs complete rebuild). Has cam and crankshaft/gear/pulley. Head with valves. Will need to source new cylinder sleeves, pistons/rods, springs, etc. Original Carbs - Solex (needs complete rebuild). This might not be an exhaustive list since I have not yet begun to fully inventory the car and start any restoration. Some Parts which I can tell will need to be sourced from used or MB from my recollection: partial front bumper Radiator ( I think I have a local source for one) air/heater boxes fasteners (all types of nuts/bolts) door panels chrome bits glove box clock Side window glass (I think I have a local source) Engine has internal parts removed. Might need flywheel (unsure). Most parts are available from independent sources (K&K Mfg, etc) or Mercedes Benz Classic Center which is a very good thing. It just depends if someone wants original or repro. Also, some 190SL parts are interchangeable with 190 Sedan. Parts cars available.CAR IS LISTED ELSEWHERE, SO THIS AUCTION MAY BE ENDED EARLY.
