This car is mechanically sound, reliable, a blast to drive, but it is not perfect, and is priced accordingly for the buyer who may want to drive as-is or restore. Recent:8/2015 Convertible Top Motors5/2015 Fluids: replaced transmission fluid/filter; motor oil - all BMW synthetic. 9/2014 New Master cylinder, full bleed5/2014 New paint on trunk lid (clear coat had started to peel)1/2013 New timing belt, idler, water pump (153,000 miles), valve lash adjusted. 5/2011 New top, rear window, tension straps, front windshield rubber seal, professionally installed. 4/2010 Spark plugs, rotor Good: - Bilstein shocks (on the car when we bought it five years ago) - Drive train, suspension, steering - A/C blows cold. Was converted to R134 by a previous owner. Has worked without attention for the five years we have owned it. - Paint - Convertible top and rear window - Dash is clean with no cracks - Carpet - Alpine CD-121 AM/FM CD Player; power antenna. - 14" 4-bolt BBS "basketweave" wheels - Battery - No codes Meh: - Two good tires, two not so much. All are matching brand, size, and type. - Interior: some hide creases separating on front seats. Failed seam in center of rear seat. Thread gave out, but leather is intact. - brakes are good warm; but very firm when cold. Replaced the pads when purchased in 2010. Probably need to be replaced soon. - Front convertible top seal at windshield frame leaks. May need sealant or top adjustment. - Left power mirror works. Right power mirror does not. Relay clicks but doesn't move. - Minor exhaust leak. We haven't driven much lately, mostly with top down, so haven't repaired. - Beginnings of rust. See photos. - Cruise control does not work. Probably the classic loose wire on back of instrument cluster. Convertible top: Cover lid powers up and down. Folding top operates manually and is easy to do. Drives had the common failure and were replaced but not synchronized. Top has to be folded manually anyway. All the parts are there if the buyer wants to wrestle with synchronizing it. Seller will include the failed drives if buyer wants them. Spare parts available: - Original Blaupunkt AM/FM/Cassette - Auxiliary electric radiator fan. Bought, but never installed because car has never run hot. - Spare front valence trim, commonly missing. Car is listed elsewhere, so seller reserves the right to end early.
