1962 Pontiac Tempest Convertible This car is currently registered and a driver. It is an excellent restoration candidate or can be used as is. This Tempest has a 4 barrel, 4 cylinder motor and 4 speed manual transmission. Vehicle starts right up, runs cool and is very smooth driving on the road. The car was originally painted white with light blue interior. This is a California car with no material rust or body rot. Convertible top, radiator, tires and windshield are relatively new. Motor has less than 5000 miles on rebuild. Transmission shifts smoothly and stays in gear. Suspension is very smooth, glides on the road very comfortably, Steers, and stops straight. There is clutch chatter engaging first gear. All interior components are intact except for the radio. There is a cut out in the dashboard to accommodate modern stereo which has been removed but will come with the car (there is a missing control bezel for the stereo). Exterior paint has been removed to expose all sheet-metal. There was a second budget light blue color paint applied over the original white color. On top of that prior owners recently painted Black primer. This car has never been any significant collision. The car has minor dents visible in photos on the available Photobucket album link. Front fenders have minor rust pinholes behind the tires in the typical location between the sheet metal and the structural gussets. The bare metal is covered in light wax to protect from any flash rust. Engine compartment was meticulously sprayed by prior owner with LineX bedliner. I am available to answer any questions about the car by cell phone at 408-497-1399. I forgot to mention that there is a new stock-style exhaust system installed for quiet operation. New fluids throughout, including 80 wt in transmission & transaxle. Minor transmission leak from the shift rod seal. Other parts to be provided:1. Aftermarket stereo previously installed in dash. The control bezel is lost. I don't know what brand it is. I removed it to expose the dash - sure enough the prior owner cut the dash. Fortunately. dash is not bent as stereo had rear support. There are speakers in from door panels and kick panels. 2. Original radiator - frame and tanks are in excellent original condition. Core leaks. 3. Original generator core - does not charge. Bearings worn. 4. Driver door wing, glass and armature. Removed by prior owner. I will make an attempt to install prior to delivery. I haven't had time to address this issue yet. 5. I am awaiting delivery of door panel attachment hardware to replace worn and missing bits. Will attempt to install these items. 6. Door handles. Window cranks and armrests are all there.
