1966 Volkswagen Bus – Sundial Campmobile The time has come for our family to say goodbye to our favorite camper 'Seemore The Sundial' It has been a difficult decision to make but a few other projects are requiring our attention, so we must sell – and sorry, no trades. Seemore has been an amazing camper for us! This bus would be a fun restoration project if you wanted to make it perfect, or just drive and enjoy as is – as we have! We purchased this bus in 2006 and have essentially only maintained it and loved it along the way. The bus has had some typical repairs done by the previous owner who had "restored" and converted everything to 12V before we got it. Although not factory original, most everything works and the bus is fully usable. We've made many trips to California with our 2 children as well as to events in Arizona, and have driven it many miles over the years. Mechanically the bus has been made more reliable by replacing and upgrading parts as needed. Cosmetically we've re-stained the wood interior and replaced some elements as noted below. See photos. There was some previous damage to the upper rear panel on the drivers side that was correctly repaired in 2012, but we have not done any major body work or paint other than that, and have had no accidents. The bus comes with a recently rebuilt and strong running 1641cc engine with approximately 500 miles. The motor is a AS41 Dual Relief case tapped for full flow and was professionally cleaned, crack checked, and align bored @ .20. NEW main, rod, and cam bearings, lifters, Engle 110 cam, rebuilt German rods, Mahle pistons w/ Grant rings and rebuilt heads w/ high-rev springs. Has the doghouse style oil cooler, original Bosch 009 distributor, NEW fuel pump, Bosch Blue Coil, and alternator. Rebuilt dual 34 Weber carburetors, air cleaners and Interstate battery. Fresh oil change and currently running with hi-quality Brad Penn oil, and NAPA filter. Engine comes with a 10 month unlimited mileage warranty on the long block! Recent mechanical work (since August) includes, NEW brake shoes, KYB shocks, fuel line, filter, clutch and clutch cable. Exterior work: installed NEW original style Sundial shade awning/tent and side curtains, repainted bumpers, NEW head light & tail light lenses and windshield wipers, repainted hubcaps, cleaned and detailed body. Tires are in good condition and have approximately 70-80% tread remaining and includes 1 spare. Overall the rubber on the bus is in decent condition and most was likely replaced when it was restored previous. The vinyl logos on our bus were applied in 2009 and could be removed by buyer. Roof rack has been re-stained and is also included. Interior: NEW seat belts front and rear, knee guard, grab handles, sunvisors, re-dyed curtains, replaced carpet, ABS front door panels, super nice rubber mat, fully cleaned and upholstered Sundial interior. The camper windows, tables and fold-down bed all function as they should. The water pump is missing the spigot and does not work, but the ice box is in good condition. All in all it is not a perfect bus – and comes with all of the challenges you should expect from an almost 50 year old vehicle – but it is a fully functional, vintage VW Camper that has plenty of character, tremendous potential and a complete original Sundial interior (except for the rear drivers side "condom" cabinet which can be purchased locally or online by searching thesamba for 1556479). more pictures of the bus available at bumblebasics.com/bus Please note, if buyer is interested in purchasing our small business "Bumble" along with the bus, a separate agreement may be negotiated.
