Vehicle Detail

This truck is a Survivor. And the great part about eBay is that you can compare it and see if I’m full of it. I can date this truck back to 1974 when it was in Montana and was last titled before I resurrected her. (I have that voided title!) It’s sat, ran, sat some more in the 90’s to now, but she is back on the road for sure. A Running, Driving, Clear Title, Pulling down the highway at 55-60mph, 3-window. I use it to run errands with. I’ve been her owner for ~2 years now. I’ve probably put ~350 miles on it this year, so it’s been tested out and deemed reliable enough to take around. I love things stock, so the reason I bought it was that everything looked like it’s been unmolested. And I kept it that way as best I could. Sure, I’ve done some work to it, and we’ll get into that, but it’s been to repair and not replace. Now, I didn’t build the thing in 1947, so I will just have to do my best to describe it. This means it is as-is and comes with no warranty. I’m selling it because I need the garage space and have a kid on the way. I’m a sucker for patina, so I didn’t touch the paint except for a protectant coat. The purchaser will learn how I keep it protected without a clearcoat that could crack or peel. Clear can be good, but it can also not lay quite right on rusty metal. This is a matching numbers vin plate to the title. This truck is Titled In Idaho – Is clear and current – Is insured -Is in my name – Is ready to be transferred. I will let you know about everything I know. Good and bad. You will know what you’re getting into: Let’s go. Engine: 216ci straight 6. Stock engine as far as I can tell. It sat with oil in it for 10 years or so, we did a tune up, and she fired up. I haven’t taken off the head to see inside, so don’t know the internals. Mileage Unknown. Tune up: (Professional Shop Work) – plugs, distributor, hoses, brakes.Carter YF carb (not original), cleaned and rebuilt. (Professional Shop Work)New reconditioned generator. 6V systemNew Fuel Pump (Professional Shop Work)Original starter (or real old)Valve cover leaks some oil at the gasket (new gasket) (Professional Shop Work). Old trucks do this. There is oil on the exterior of the pan too. Probably from turning into my driveway to hard to the left as that’s where the overflow / PCV is. Very small leak in my garage, so not a concern. Transmission: 3 on the floor, original I believe. This does leak some. But not enough to have to service very often. Old trucks do this. Stock Rear End, Very Small leak. Like 1 drop a week.Speedometer doesn’t work, I disconnected the cable from the speedometer and it doesn’t turn. The speedometer was tested out of the truck and it worked. I will include the sticker set that I used on the speedometer – It has the oil gauge stickers. Handbrake: Lever on the Floor. I thought it was cool. Does hold the truck. Other Mechanicals: Gas tank located under the bed, NOT in the cab. New Master Cylinder and everything rubber with brake lines, wheel cylinders (Professional Shop Work)Radiator: Original. Flushed. (Professional Shop Work). All new hoses.I spliced some wires back together after mice had eaten away at some of the original cloth cable. Otherwise, this is stock 6V components.Horn doesn’t work for some reason. I swear it did 2 years ago.New Battery 1/19/15. Interior: New Glass all around. (Professional Shop Work), original frames, new cloth like window frame seat. Note that the window glass is getting a few small scratches from rubbing on something while down. Rolling the windows up/down feels a bit like you’re taxing the mechanism inside, but it was lubricated and looked at (Professional Shop Work) Door Panels, headliner: Gray. Done by myself, not professionally. I have the drivers sunvisor installed. Passenger in box, not installed.Door Latches worked on (Professional Shop Work), but the driver door you have to close real lightly to latch tight. Safety latch catches fine in all manners. Door lines look good. Missing driver side lower panel.Dome Light Works.Heater does not work. Hoses to it hold fluid fine. Leads me to believe it’s either electrical or the heater fan? Floor Boards have some rust. This is the only place that I see rust holes. The rest of the photos try to show you that they are superficial and surface.Gauges: Fuel: goes to full when ignition on. Oil Pressure: Seems to move when running. Temperature: Doesn’t move. Battery: Seems to work when on. Note: Working is different than accurate. Speedometer: doesn’t work.Key: The key only gives power when in the up position. I believe normally they should give it in the up and right position. Exterior: Bed: Cedar Fencing. Layed over pressure treated 5/8” plywood for strength. Bed Rails: Knotty Alder pieces assembled by myself. These two jobs aren’t professional, as it’s not a show truck. But it does help the look IMO and should last.Powder coated black stock rims. This is cool. Hubcaps: One doesn’t match, but all are old and worn. Headlights work on low and bright. Steering/Driving/ Other: Brand New BF Goodrich Long Trail TAs. Still have the whiskers on the rubber. Drives straight. It’s not as precise as a mustang but it will stay in the lane without much work. There is no play in the steering wheel, it does not feel like there are loose pieces in the steering that need tightened. I have that voided 1974 Montana Title, and lots of receipts for parts. The right rear Shackle to the leaf spring is slightly bent. Doesn't seem to affect much, but I will include a replacement shackle that I bought but didn't get to. WEBSITE: If you want, I own the web domain 47chevy.com. If you want this domain (I didn't put a website on it), and want to pay for the domain transfer fees (not large), (through GoDaddy), then I will include it in the auction. You can then make a whole website for your personal 47chevy. That was my plan, but never got the time. And if you’re buying the thing to restore, well ignore most of that, and get it down to bare metal. Currently Located in Hailey, ID. Most likely you’re looking for a specific truck and it’s probably not going to be in your neighbor’s backyard. So if you’re going to ship it, it doesn’t matter where it’s at. I will help with coordinating with transportation once paid in full. A deposit of $300 is required within 3 days. Full payment due in 10. Non-payment will result in the loss of your deposit. I can store this for up to 30 days after the auction ends. After that, I will charge 10$ per day to store it. On Aug-21-15 at 07:46:00 PDT, seller added the following information: 8-21-14: 844am: The gas tank was removed, cleaned and re-installed. No sealer was put in, it seemed to be still in good shape. Fuel lines blown out. On Aug-21-15 at 15:10:16 PDT, seller added the following information: Things as they come to me: A) There is no real exhaust, just a rusty old muffler that is attached by a pipe with holes in it. This is needed, but currently just makes the truck sound a little louder and throat-ier. B) The right rear brake has been a little tighter/sticking some. At low speeds and under braking it has skidded a few times recently. Probably an adjustment, but that started popping up lately. C) The left window doesn't roll all the way down. Gets about 2/3 of the way and reaches a stop of something. The right (passenger) doesn't do that. D) Both windows sometimes don't stay 100% up after driving a while. May drop 1/2" or so. E) Throttle pull not connected to anything as this carb doesn't have a throttle advance on it.On Aug-21-15 at 19:11:35 PDT, seller added the following information: I also have a photobucket with more photos, and some videos of the engine running. Message me and let me know if you'd like to see them.On Aug-23-15 at 08:07:08 PDT, seller added the following information: This is going to Sell! ANY bid higher will take off the reserve.
