Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 1972 MGB Roadster. As you can see from the photos, this car has the clean, uncluttered look of an early MGB. When restoring this car, I decided to make it look like an early MGB roadster with the reliability of the later models. My original plan was to do a V-8, conversion, and the car is set up for this. However, the 4 cylinder engine in the car runs so well that I decided to keep the original drivetrain. I also added an early set of S.U.s, and an early distributor. I put an extraordinary amount of time and work into this car: BODYWORK- I used a later MGB bodyshell that was in good shape. Entire car was stripped down and repainted inside and out. Chrome bumper conversion. Super clean, straight, rust-free. Great Lines. New side mouldings. New Grille w/Emblem. Rear bumper is 2 years old, not perfect but nice. Front bumper and overriders are older and showing their age, but still look nice. New Tex door mirrors. DRIVETRAIN- Engine has excellent oil pressure and compression, so all I did was regrind the valves and add positive valve stem seals. New head gasket. New water pump. New oil pressure sending unit hose. Runs great, pretty quick for a 4 cylinder. Does not burn any oil. Transmission shifts fine through all gears, clutch is good. HYDRAULICS- New brake master cylinder, rebuilt clutch master and slave cylinders, rebuilt brake calipers w/new seals and pistons, new ceramic brake pads, new Cross-drilled rotors. New rear wheel cylinders. New braided stainless steel brake hose set. SUSPENSION: New black polyurethane graphite-impregnated bushings used on front sway bar, A-Arms, leaf spring pads, rear leaf spring shackles, car handles like a dream. Tires have about 5,000 miles on them, excellent condition, like new. INTERIOR: New red carpet, new seat diaphrams, the dashboard had some cracks on top, so I installed a new dashboard cap, looks great. Interior panels are not factory, they are cut panels, but still look very nice and uncluttered. Dark red canvas top (expensive) . I also installed a new fuel tank and sending unit. I finished this car 2 years ago, and put around 5,000 miles on it without any major problems. That being said, this is an older car so there are a few minor imperfections. The paintwork is excellent, but is not concourse perfect. Still VERY nice. ( I have never seen a perfect car). The wire wheels are originals, and do vibrate a bit at highway speeds. The chrome knock-offs have a nice patina. The plastic window on the canvas top has some small scratches on it, but the plastic is still very clear. The chrome headlight trim rings have a light patina. The leather surround on the steering wheel has some normal wear. Despite a few minor flaws, still is still a very nice, clean, straight, solid, well-running MGB. I have tried to be as accurate as possible in my description of this car and will be happy to answer any questions. Please bear in mind that although restored, this is still a 40+ year old car and is being sold as-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. I will require a $ 500 deposit via Paypal from the winning bidder, with the remaining balance to be paid within 2 weeks. Pick-up and/or shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. On Aug-21-15 at 17:00:06 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that I recently did a full service to the car. This includes: engine oil/filter change, transmission oil change, also differential and steering rack oil change. Greased front suspension and driveshaft. Brake fluid flush in both brake and clutch hydraulic systems. Also forgot to mention that the Triplex windshield on the car is clear and in very good condition. This MGB is ready for the late summer and fall cruising season.
