1988 Chevrolet 3500 4x4 Cummins/w Allison and Gear Vendors Overdrive I bought this truck few months ago, I need to get a newer truck for my business now and need to sell it. The guy that had it put the motor in it, came out of a 1990 Dodge Ram he said it had 70k on the motor when he put it in and he put about that many more on it before I bought it. The transmission is a Allison out of a greyhound, previous owner said it was built up with a bigger torque converter, and has a gear vendors overdrive/underdrive behind it $3000 piece by itself!!! Truck runs and shifts great. There is a 200 gallon diesel tank in the bed. Since I’ve had it I’ve installed a 4” exhaust, a bd diesel fuel pin, turned the star wheel 1.5 turns and put a K&N filter on, installed 3200 RPM Govenor Spring, everything was previously untampered with, can easily be returned to stock although I have no idea why anybody would. I have’nt drove it 10 miles since I done it but it did make a significant difference in power and sounds great, it is a absolute blast to drive and runs super smooth. I do still have all the stock stuff to go with it. Interior is clean and all gauges work. Still has factory stereo and it still works. I just spent $750 getting the AC fixed in it, has brand new compressor along with lines and evaporator. The guy that had it and built it drove it from Texas to Oregon and never had any problems with it except the transmission, said he had a turbo 400 behind it at first and it didn’t hold up so a shop in Oregon put the Allison in it for him. I just changed the oil and the radiator fluid. Just had the windows tinted they are still legal. These is a gem of a truck you are not gonna find one with a cleaner conversion done, these body style Chevy's are super hard to find in the condition factory, it would not take much at all to really get this to be a showstopper. I’m putting it on here with a reserve of what I need to want to sell it, which I will not disclose. The truck is ready to drive and go right now I wouldn’t be scared to take it anywhere. NOTE: I forgot to add this the odometer is working and shows 30xxx miles, I'm assuming its 230xxx by previous owners info and the shape of the body and undercarriage which looks all factory still.On Aug-19-15 at 17:17:29 PDT, seller added the following information: New Note: I've been taking pics for people and looking up more stuff on this truck. Upon my investigation the trans according to the pan looks like a turbo 400 it did come out of a greyhound and it has been rebuilt with a bigger torque converter. The t case is a np205 chevy and the gear vendors is behind the t case.
