Vehicle Detail
This is a 1969 Chevelle SS that I bought in January 2002. When I purchased it the original 396 was in a crate and a small block 350 had been installed in the car. The car had just been painted, which is the same paint you see today. As you can see from the pictures the body panels are perfectly aligned. I then (in 2004) installed the 396, which was represented to me as a recent rebuild. The engine swallowed a value after about 300 miles (clearly it had not been rebuilt). I then bought a 454 four bolt main short block from a local racing shop that had, in fact, just been rebuilt. The engine is out of a mid 80s Chevy truck. I added the following: OEM exhaust manifolds, replaced the timing chain with gear drive, installed a matched Edlebrock (torquer) cam, manifold and carburetor, (850cfm), four core OEM radiator, electric and mechanical fans, oil cooler, center force clutch, Lakewood bell housing, roller tip rocker arms and later model electronic ignition. The car has AC which is fully hooked up. This work was all finished in 2008. As you can see, the engine and engine compartment are immaculate. The car has a M-22 rock crusher transmission and a 12-bolt rear end (373 gears), front disc brakes, 14 inch rally wheels and Goodyear tires. I installed new bumpers and other chrome on the car. It also has dual Flowmaster mufflers and stainless steel exhaust pipes. The interior is in good shape. I replaced the entire steering column, door and rear panels and carpet. I also installed a custom kit for the trunk-see pictures. The car is very fast, never runs hot (and I live in a hot part of the country) and has always been garaged. It has been driven only occasionally over the past 7 years, mostly at Hot August Nights in Reno, NV where I take it (enclosed trailer) most years. The issues: Some of the glass could be replaced and there are a few nicks in the paint (on a door edge and hood edge-see pictures.). It has the SS gauge cluster (see picture), but I cannot get the gas gauge, speedometer or water temperature gauge (I installed a separate one below the dash-see picture) to work. Finally, try as I may, I cannot stop the motor from leaking a bit of oil. The car is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end this auction early.
