Vehicle Detail
1928 / 1929 Model A Ford / Shay Replica SUPER DELUXE Convertible ROADSTER with RUMBLE SEAT OPTIONS LOADED & only 6,000 original miles! The Ford Shay was molded in glass using the original body molds for the car. It was produced and first sold in 1979 as a “50 YEAR ANNIVERSARY” Celebration by Ford Motor Company for the Model A. It was only sold through authorized Ford Dealers. In 1980 they produced the “Super Deluxe” with more options included. This car is a “Super Deluxe Roadster” with most options available. (I will list what options I can below and I may have missed a few) The car was produced as a 1928/1929 Model A, and is actually WA State titled as a 1928 vehicle …even having WA State approved actual vintage 1928 WA License Plate assigned to the car that you see in photos! It has primarily been used as a weekend driver & local Parade Car. HISTORY: This Deluxe Roadster with Rumble Seat has only 6,000 original miles. This is my 87 year old father’s pride & joy… that must be now sold due to his health costs. My father would always take it out on a summer weekend, wash it off and cruise around the block. For years he kept it at his second home, where it lead the annual 4th of July Parade every year until mom passed on. The last 12 years or so it was a special invite car to a local Greenwood Seattle’s Seafair Parade … where it was the Featured Celebrity Car or Grand Marshall vehicle. I have included just a few photos showing JP Patches in the car, Grant Goodeve (Eight is Enough TV show) in the car and local favorite Cisco! It has also held several Seattle mayors and an astronaut too J MECHANICAL: This vehicle has always been maintained and kept in a heated garage its whole life. As it was sponsored for the parades by a local auto shop, it has been extremely well maintained. It is a basic Ford Pinto/Mustang running gear with the optional AT transmission… so it can cruise at full highway speeds and go anywhere. Several years ago the shop installed a new factory carb, did tune ups and always lubed the car as needed for pre-parade checks. We just installed a new battery. Even after now sitting for last several years the car fired right up and ran smooth. We have some extra items that go with the car, all the original papers and Shay Plaque for the car, extra sales ads, etc. This is a very rare & loaded out early production car in an excellent color combination. With only 6,000 miles, you can see original stickers and how clean it is under the hood too. Somebody will be getting a great car to enjoy for many years to come!
