Vehicle Detail
It is a great car but needs serious attention by someone who wants to invest the time into a rewarding project. The car is all original, but with that, bear in mind, it's nearly 50 years old. It needs body work. It was last painted in 1997, but has been up on blocks for several years. The car has been in my family since 1968. It was my parents first car after they were married. My father and I worked on it, but he passed suddenly in 2001 and my ability to work on it has diminished greatly. The car can be restored if desired or parted out, both are viable options. I would like to see it stay together but any buyer is free to do as they wish. It has a lot of great things going for it, but it also needs some extensive work to get it to a safe, reliable level. It is not currently road worthy in my opinion. It needs a new fuel line and brake work. I am very realistic about the car and it's condition so don't hesitate to contact me and ask me anything you wish to know. Any potential buyer will have to arrange pick up of the car. Flatbed or trailer is the best way to pick it up. Please check this for updates on the condition and work of the vehicle. I am having the frame evaluated on 5/28. I have begun work on the brake system and have begun work on the motor. My hope is that everything will work properly, so far so good.... If this listing ends, I will relist the vehicle, so please keep watching. I want any potential sale to be of the highest degree of fairness and honesty about the condition of the vehicle. Working on it has brought back memories... Man, it's a sexy car... I can only imagine how it was brand new.. As of 6/30 here is the current situation with the car. I appreciate all of those who have continued to watch the listing, I have been working on the car as much as possible over the past month. The motor runs excellent. I got it running on June 4th. I babied it before I decided to turn it over and it wanted to run. I hooked a fuel line directly to the fuel pump, the carb was cleaned and working, and after I got all the fogging oil out of it, it ran great. I've started it and let it run a couple of time a week for the past month. The motor is unbelievable. Still strong after almost 50 years. I pulled the back brakes apart, the rear end is smooth. Moves excellent. Transmission runs perfect also. All the lights work. Now, what it needs is a new fuel tank. It has a fuel pin holes and was weeping. I messed with it yesterday and determined it should be replaced. The brakes also need to be rebuilt and reassembled. Both items are dependent on each other. I don't want to fix one thing and not the other, so I am debating on what to do. If I repair those items, the car will have more value, but I'm willing to let a buyer decide if they want that or not. I will have to make that decision in the next couple of days. The horns are also not working. I think they both seized up. The horn relay could be an issue too, but I think the horns are dead. As far as body work goes, it needs front floor pans and a new trunk floor. The drivers side quarter panel needs serious work. I believe both rocker panels are gone, but I can only really see the passenger side, the drivers side still has the molding on it. I had a friend look at the frame, he thinks it needs work. I agree. I've been under the car painting up the frame, to clean it up. It has some holes, here and there. I think it can be welded and repaired, but I'm not a welding or frame expert. I also came across the original bill of sale. My friend happens to work at the same dealership. Kind of an interesting find. I am not interested in scrapping the car, it's value supercedes that action. Serious inquiries only. I reserve the right to cancel any sale if the deposit isn't rendered within 24 hours or if the buyer does not contact me via ebay within 24 hours of the sale. Buyer is responsible for vehicle pick up. If the vehicle sells outside of this listing, I reserve the right to cancel any sale that takes place through ebay. Buyer must pick up vehicle within a specified time, if buyer cancels sale, deposit may or may not be returned depending on the circumstances of the sale cancellation. Any questions ask away. Brakes and new tank are on the way. REASONABLE SELLER SEEKING REASONABLE BUYER!!!!MANY WATCHERS, MAKE ME AN OFFER I CAN'T REFUSE!!!!!
