1954 Nash Metropolitan Convertible – 30+ Years Storage – Arizona Car! Untouched! Same owner for over 40 years! Here is an amazing 1954 Nash Metropolitan Convertible that is an actual "Garage Find" from sunny and dry Arizona where it rested for over 30 years, untouched! Same owner for over 40 years! This is the first year of production for this cute little subcompact and its curious appeal continues today! It was built in Great Britain by Austin from a design penned by Pinin Farina. The drivetrain came from England in the form of the Austin A40 overhead-valve four cylinder engine and 3 speed manual transmission. The history on this little beauty, as I was told, starts in sunny Phoenix Arizona when in the late 70's, a gentleman purchased the car as a fun car for he and his wife. In the early 80?s he was called to the east coast for his job and parked it in his father?s garage. The job lasted almost 20 years and the little Metro just sat. When he returned, he found that his father had pushed it outside for a time. So he put it back in the garage with the intention of restoring it but never had the time or money so he decided to let someone else have the honor of bringing it back to its? former glory! It does need and definitely deserves a total restoration. The body on this Rare classic is as rock solid and rust free as you would expect an Arizona car to be! Other than a couple tiny blisters, there are virtually no dents, dings or flaws in the body making it an easy and inexpensive restoration project! The body is straight as an arrow with no evidence of any prior accident history. In the interest of full disclosure, there are a few rust spots in the front floor pan from its? time parked outside, but will be a minor fix. The tires are older but in great shape. The car is very complete and missing only one headlight rim. It was a running and driving car when parked 30 years ago and should make for a very straight forward and easy restoration for even the novice restorer. The engine is free and I doubt will need any major work but it will need restoration of all its? components to make it roadworthy again. I doubt it would take much to get it running. It?s getting harder and harder to find these original, decades long in storage, garage finds and especially from the dry southwest! RARE 1st year production and it?s a convertible!
