2001 BMW 540IT Wagon 4.4 V8 With Touring Package - There were 406 2001 540IT Touring Sold In The U.S.A. For This Year So It Is A Fairly Rare BMW540 IT Touring Wagon. I Purchased The Car Thinking I Was Going To Keep It The First Of The Year And Have Approx $8500 In It So My Big Loss Is Your Gain. It Is A Great Car For This Low Price And It Will Not Be Listed Again. This is a AWESOME BMW 540i Touring. This car has been extremely well maintained over the years and is in great shape. The previous owner is a BMW technician so no expense has been spared to keep this car running in top condition. All of the problematic BMW E39 issues have been addressed on this car. A few years ago the timing chain and timing chain guides were replaced along with new valve cover gaskets, spark plugs and ignition coils. The cooling system was also overhauled at the same time with a new radiator, water pump, thermostat and hoses. The Automatic transmission has been flushed and has had a few filter every 15,000 miles to keep the torque converter and valve-body functioning properly to avoid the dreaded BMW Automatic transmission failures. The gear box shifts smoothly every time and does not slip in any gear. Last year a rebuilt ABS module and two wheels speed sensors were installed. At the same time the car received new front thrust arms, New Bilstein Sport shocks and a few more suspension bushings in the rear were also replaced. The car also has 4 new tires with less than 5,000 miles on them. The interior of the car is in near perfect condition with no tears, cracks or stains on any of the carpet or leather. I installed all new factory OEM floor mats last week to make the interior look as new as possible. The window tint was slightly faded so I had all the windows professionally re tinted last week ( $450 ). The exterior is in Great condition, No major chips or dents. The wagon does show normal wear for a car of this age but is in much better condition that most of the 540 touring's out there for sale. I had a new windshield installed to include the lower plastic piece that goes bad from age on all the BMW'S last week. I had them replace the wiper blades, the motor mounts, the rear black plastic bumper trim and service the A/C last week too with a few other items I had new rear wheel sensors and the O2 sensors replaced for a recent total of $2800.00 ) . I enjoy the car and it has been great but I need to sell because I need the room for a new truck I need to buy.
