The answer provided is that yes, a repair was made to the bike in this area. I was not aware of this when I purchased the bike in 2009. However, when I removed the engine from the frame in 2012, I observed that an aluminum plate had been welded into the engine cases just ahead of the countershaft. This was undoubtedly the result of a "thrown drive chain," which occurred with many of these early CB750K1s. I subsequently removed the oil pan and the oil pick-up screen, carefully cleaning these to make certain that no debris remained from the earlier damage and repair. I'm adding this note since I want any prospective buyer to be aware that this repair has been made.
