RARE OLD BMW BARN FIND Well, maybe not a barn FIND, I put it in my warehouse about 15 years ago when my wife decided we needed children. Yea, I know, I should have put my wife in the warehouse. Well anyway I originally had the idea I would not have children and in my later years I would open a private BMW museum. I had many years of enjoyment buying unusual BMW's and working with the BMW community. The old cars were great, the people were great and I enjoyed many years driving this and my other old BMW's. In my later years I would freshen up the cars in my retirement. Well, I did retire and now I restore old houses instead. At some point you have to face reality and realize you have more desires than ability. Such is the case with my museum. TO THE POINT: This car was purchased about 27 years ago from a young European airline pilot that was living in Florida and moving back across the pond. The car was in very nice condition and ran very well, very smooth and quiet. During the time it was in my warehouse Florida was attacked by numerous hurricanes. The warehouse suffered heavy damage and this car received a beam dropped on its roof. The roof has a large dent (pictured) which would not be a major repair. The roof pillars and windows were unharmed. Being a Karmann ( the German who invented rust, I believe) body it does have rust in the usual locations. This is a complete car that was running and driving well and can be returned to that condition. It is a wonderful car to own as it is simple and straight forward in it's design and engineering. Once restored it would be easy to maintain and would be a reliable classic car to own and drive while still providing high class and a style which would be hard to find any vintage. The value of these upper class coupes are rising steadily, while still affordable at this time. Car is located about 50 miles north of Palm Beach, Florida and will need to picked up there. It is not running at this time and tires are toast. I can help load and delivery is a possibility as I am retired. On May-20-15 at 19:13:53 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE: New photos added. I got the chance to get the car properly located so I could raise the vehicle. The photos will show some rust damage to the floor pans mainly around the drain plug area. The car does have rust in numerous locations but it is a restorable car NOT a parts vehicle. The car was undercoated long ago, most likely at new purchase which has kept the wheel wells and shock towers in much better condition. I removed the rotted tires and replaced with some old worn tires that at least hold air so the car can be rolled and loaded. The odometer is showing 16700 Kilometers which I would suspect to be 116700 Kilometers. Not ready for the prom but with time, love and care she will shine again.
