1951 Mercedes 220 Sedan - Factory Webasto Soft Sunroof - Very Rare Car! California/Arizona Car - Rust Free - Beautiful - Must See!! This is a very rare, 1951 Mercedes 220 Sedan with a factory, very desirable Webasto soft sunroof. This is a very rare and desirable car also known as the W187 body style. Only built from 1951 to 1954 with total production with only 16,154 units and only 3,453 built in 1951. Very few were ever imported into the US and this is believed to one of less then 100 in the US according to my research. This car was imported from Germany to San Francisco, California in 1954 where it has spent most of its life until coming to Arizona a few years ago. It has had the same owner for the past 30 years and it was very well taken care of and maintained. It is the left hand drive version with factory front suicide doors and factory Webasto sliding sunroof. This is a very correct, original car and is a very solid, rust free car that has been very well kept. From the outside the Mercedes W187 still offers plenty of pre-war flair, to give you the impression of an era gone by, a time where cars were slowly built to order and a proud testament of the rich Mercedes history!! This is a very correct and original car that has been very well maintained and restored through out the years. It is in beautiful condition with just right amount of patina. The car needs nothing to drive as it is and is hit at classic car shows. Mechanically is in perfect condition and runs like a top and could be driven anywhere. This is a true, rare German classic!! The black paint is several years old and is fine for a driver. The finish is bright and shinny but has some slight crazing and flaws. To be perfect it would need a beautiful new paint job. The body is solid as a rock, totally rust free and very straight. All the panel fit is excellent. The chrome and stainless has been all redone and looks beautiful. The new leather interior is in beautiful condition, finished in tan using the correct German leather and carpet. The steering wheel is very nice and crack free. All the woodgrain in the car is original and in very good condition. Everything in the car works great except for the radio which turns on but no sound comes out. Even the power directional signals the put of the side of the car work great. The sliding soft top was redone also but needs new bushings in the sliding channels. Mechanically, this car is in excellent, top notch condition! This Mercedes runs and drives with no issues at all! The original straight-6 engine was fully serviced and purrs like a kitten. Under the hood is very clean looks all original. The car fires right up and runs as it was new. This car truly runs excellent and is really fun to drive! All and all, this 1951 Mercedes 220 Sedan is one rare and highly desirable classic car! This is one cool classic Mercedes that is a fun driver the way it sits. What a rare opportunity! The car in fact is a 1951 as per factory paperwork and original build sheet.
