The Green Phlash was a total frame up restoration by Peter Root of Flynt, MI. Pete is a retired autoworker who painstakingly restores vintage bikes as a hobby. I found her on Craigslist in 2012, bought her sight unseen, and flew up to pick her up and ride her home to Texas. We had an uneventful but very fun trip back, which included both the Missouri and Arkansas Ozarks. I found out why they called the R90/6 "the original sport bike". She is swift and nimble in the twisties. I have ridden her on various trips around Texas since then, and used her as a daily rider from time to time along with several other bikes I have managed to collect. The restoration included cleaning, sandblasting, and repainting the engine, frame and body. It also included all new headers, mufflers, tires, body paint, seat, electrical wires, grips, and foot rests. The speedo was repleaced with which had come from another bike and showed about 39k. Pete's mechanic had estimated the engine at about 25,000 at the time, and I've put another 7-8k on the bike since. She looks, sounds, and runs great. Everything works as it should. Comes with side stand, center stand, and saddlebags that I added, as well as a very fine aftermarket tool roll worth over $100. These trouble free, shaft drive airheads will easily accumulate 100-200K miles with normal maintenance. This bike is quiet, strong, and very reliablle. Comfortable and easily handed when riding two-up. Huge torque from the twin cylinder air head engine for which BMW is famous. Parts are readily available in the unlikey event they are needed. This bike starts, shifts, and runs exactly as it should. She is a road worthy machine, ready to go anywhere. Come pick her up in San Antonio and enjoy the Texas wildflowers on your trip home, or I will happily ride her to your doorstep anywhere within 1500 miles or so of San Antonio, TX, if you put down a $500 deposit and buy me an airplane ticket home.
