2003 Ford Explorer XLS 4 door 2 wheel drive brand new Goodyear Wrangler tires, rear end was just rebuilt by Jess Lewis Transmission in Fort Wayne, In about 10k miles ago. Truck has 140k on it and overheated due to crack in thermostat housing is what I'm thinking. As explained above its either the head gasket or cracked head. It will start and run with no knocks. ABS light is on and as shown in pics has minor damage which is common on this model on the rear hatch.
