1974 DeTomaso Pantera L. This Pantera is a pretty interesting car, the prior owner purchased a good, straight 74 L car and got a bit nuts. In place of the stock 351 Cleveland motor, he swapped in an all aluminum L76 Chevrolet motor. All told, he had over $80k in the car and conversion. I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to these cars but a quick drive in this thing is enough to make me rethink my position. If I was going to daily or semi-daily drive a 70s exotic, a compelling case can be made for this car. The modern motor is a delight in the DeTomaso chassis and is light-years beyond what the factory installed. Otherwise, the car is very sorted from a mechanical standpoint. It shifts as well as any ZF box that I have driven, does not run hot, and brakes and handles as you would hope and expect. Cosmetically, the car is nice but not perfect. I bit of digging reveals that this car was delivered from the factory in the best hue for a Pantera, light blue. The white paint that the car wears now is presentable but not perfect, I would describe it as a "5 foot" car. The chassis is very solid and looks nearly rust free. I can see that the driver's side rocker was replaced at some point in the past but everything else looks original. The interior is tidy but has the typical dash cracks and could use a headliner.
