Vehicle Detail
Selling a 1978 westfalia camper bus. Here’s what s new: tires, all seats and cushions including beds, all new wood paneling, wood floor, canvas top, curtains, all tachometers and speedometer, new stereo system with surround sound, roof above the cockpit and much more. Brakes including emergency brake works. The sink has a new pump and it’s hooked up to a 6 gallon jug for fresh drinking water. The cooler/fridge is functioning as well. Front seats and the z bed are brand new. There is no rust that I’ve been able to detect. Underneath the bus still has the factory coating, battery tray is free of rust and so is the floor boards in the cock pit. Childs cot has all the pieces and is original. No cracked windows. The paint is a 9 out 10 condition. Shifts and drives well. Great for long road trips or camping. I’ve driven it in the snow with minimal problems. The engine is a crate 2.8 Chevy engine. On Jan-26-15 at 08:21:06 PST, seller added the following information: To let bidders know Kayla.howar was flagged/ cited from this auction. so the bidding has been corrected back down to 6600. Sorry for the inconvenience To answer other bidders questions the 2.8 Chevy engine is connected through an adapter plate to the original trans axle. the crate engine has less than 5000 miles on it. The radiator is hooked up in the front so air can help cool it down with a Brazilian style guard in front of it. behind the radiator there is a fan. Yes if you wanted to convert the bus back to air cooled it wont be too difficult. Inside the engine bay or compartment nothing has been ripped out so you can rip out the 2.8 Chevy engine and replace it with an air cooled engine. you would have to by sheet metal and cover the front up and that would restore it to be original. Having the 2.8 Chevy carbureted engine and set up gives you 20 to 22 mpg, informs you when your engine is overheating or needs oil, its faster, and it will run longer than the original engine. this conversion alone can cost a person $5000-$10000 and its already done. there are some dents, one being on the drivers side toward the middle of the bus and another on the back of the bus on the lower left of the engine compartment. This is not a completely restored bus and thats why its not being sold for 25000. shoot me an email for other questions? and locals are more than welcome to take a test drive. thank you
