Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE On the auction block is a gold/tan 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid with a rare 5-speed transmission (Honda hasn’t offered this option on the hybrid in many years), just under 95,000 miles, and dealer-installed BBS-style alloy rims. Please note that this vehicle is currently in running condition, but the hybrid battery pack is operating at a significantly diminished capacity (overheating, per the dealer invoice, but generally just performing poorly and draining quickly in my experience). Although I have driven it for the past month or so with the IMA warning light on with little problem, the hybrid battery needs replacing, and, at the Honda dealer, this will cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $3,500. The reserve is set low, I am hoping to just pass this on to someone who will have the capacity to keep it in running condition. Other than the battery issue, it has been a great car. It was purchased new in Washington state by my father, who sold it to me in 2009 and I have driven it ever since (mainly in the Northeast). The current hybrid battery is the car’s second module – the first was replaced at 71,833 miles.I have the full service record – all maintenance has been taken care of on a regular basis. Recalls have been dealt with (airbags and headlight switch). Scheduled comprehensive maintenance (e.g. flush/replace transmission fluid) occurred at 60k miles. At 81,400 mi, the front brake pads and rotors were replaced and coolant flushed; rear drums were cleaned and adjusted. The tires were replaced in 2009 at Costco – the mileage was probably around 70k and the tires have an 80k warranty, though I’m unsure if that’s transferable. I replaced the standard car battery several months ago. The car has been involved in one accident, which occurred in New York (someone rammed into it while it was parked on the street and I was away), causing damage to the rear bumper. The bumper and trunk lid were subsequently replaced.Other highlights:MPG: Typically, I’ve gotten up to about 50 with highway driving. With city driving, it gets in the low 40s (even in its current condition with the battery in poor condition). All weather mats – dealer installed. If you don’t like them, get rid of them and have basically brand new looking mats underneath. Also of note:The car has three blemishes, which are visible in the pictures. 1) Someone backed into the corner of a panel near driver side passenger door a few years ago, 2) the hood got keyed with an “X” (the longer scratch is ~10” long, the shorter, ~5”), and 3) there is a three/four inch scratch near windshield in front of car. In addition, the CD player has a tendency to ‘eat’ CDs, and should be consider inoperable. Other than that, expect the usual scuffs here and there, but only the three issues mentioned above is there a scratch down to the metal. Finally, the car will not have license plates following the sale, so you will need to arrange for some kind of temporary registration.
