1995 Ford Thunderbird LX 4.6 OHC V-8 Here's a car that can be used as a daily driver, or for a restoration project. We got it from a friend a few years back that purchased it from his neighbor who bought it new. Our friend owned it for 5 or 6 years and didn't want to take it with them when they moved out of state. Basically we are the 3rd owner. The original owner had the transmission rebuilt at some point, and it still shifts nicely. Has an overdrive tranny, with a lockout button if you don't want overdrive to engage. The actual mileage is probably closer 200K as the speedometer quit a little while before we bought it. This has always been an extra car for us as we have a couple of minivans that we drive, so we've maybe put a couple of hundred miles on it ourselves. Everything seems to work fine, here's my guess of what it needs mechanically, there is nothing that makes this car unreliable or dangerous. Front end work, maybe tie rods and struts. Drives straight, but rattles on a bumpy road. Sway bars, rubber bushings (rattles) Heater works but has never been real warm Dampers that hold the hood open Doesn't have any issues electrically, everything works. AC worked when we got it, blowing cool not cold air. Now the compressor shuts off right away so I assume it's low on Freon. Tires have a little life left in them, the 4 wheel disc brakes seem good although the ABS light has always been lit. No other lights are on, check engine light has ever come on. You can see the clear coat on the paint is shot. The body has a couple of parking lot dings and there is a couple of small dents in the rear drivers side quarter panel. Has a hitch, wired for trailer lights and comes with the ball. The engine runs smooth and starts right up. This car has tons of get up and go, doesn't burn oil but does drip a little. Appears to have never been smoked in, no other foul odors. Original California car, body is rust free. Compact spare tire has never been on the ground.
