Vehicle Detail
This is an unrestored 1952 MG TD of which I am the 3rd owner. The first owner and his wife bought the MG on their return from the UK after a tour of duty, and brought the MG to Texas. It followed them to Cape Cod Mass. where they eventually retired. Following his death, the vehicle was sold to owner #2, a fellow cranberry grower. I bought the car from him with the intention of restoring it, and have driven it for several years. The engine matches the number on the factory ID plate. The engine runs fine cruising with 80 PSI oil pressure and there is some evidence that it was rebuilt. The speedometer reads 94,000 miles. The bright work is good for its age with the exception of the bumper over riders and the luggage rack which are pitted. All the instruments work with the exception of the clock. I have replaced the headlamps with sealed beams (I still have the originals), the water pump, the distributor from Abingdon Spares, and the drive shaft; and have added turn signals. The tyres are good; the drive train is good with no issues other than the usual leaking seals associated with British cars. The gas tank is clean with no rust. There is no rust or bondo in this car. The wood is sound with no evidence of rot. I have the side curtains, but they are not too special. The top is good with no tears. The car comes with the original tool kit and jack, and a 1952 factory shop manual. But note, this MG needs both a paint job, and new wiring to be a driver. Since 2012, I have not driven it much, and it could most likely use a tune up. The MG is located in Middleboro, Mass. and you are welcome to come by and inspect it. I will accept payment in cash, or check. First time E- Bayer’s are not a problem. I will answer any and all questions. I will not ship the MG, but will assist your shipper, and will keep the car for up to two weeks for you at your risk. The MG is titled in my name.
