This is a very nice example of one of the most iconic sports cars ever produced: the MGA. The MGA was first introduced in 1955, and was an immediate sensation for it's energy, performance, handling, open-air charm, and charming good looks. The accolades and affection it won in period have only improved with age; it's timeless and iconic lines, lively, engaging handling, torquey engine, and no-nonsense attitude stands proud and tall next to other classics of the era costing many times more. Indeed, it is a wonder that such an iconic car has remained so affordable; however, with each passing week seeming to bring yet another newly discovered classic that explodes in value, who knows how much longer these cars will remain affordable! Nice examples like this will lead the charge upward, so bid now before these become unaffordable! The car in question is a 1956, making it a second year production car, and making it eligible for the most desirable and prestigious classic rallies and events. The car's history is known since the late 1970s, when the previous owner drove the car daily; in the early 1980s, he disassembled the car to begin a restoration, but was regrettably cut short after he encountered health problems in the late 1980s, at which point he sold the car to a friend who would then own the car for 25 years, and would complete the restoration in 1990, driving the car sparingly during that time, evidenced by the car's mere 7269 miles since completion. With recently refreshed electronics, a new convertible top, a refinished dashboard, and a paint correction, this car runs, drives and shines very nicely. If you are looking for a car to drive and enjoy, and park anywhere in town with pride, look no further. This is a rust-free car, and has lived in a climate controlled garage since the completion of the restoration. It fires right up, the engine maintains excellent oil pressure, makes good power, shifts, handles and stops well (for an MGA). The paint is shiny and glossy. The car is not without it's imperfections. There are a number of chips in the paintwork around the doors, hood, trunk, and radio antenna, with some other areas showing small blemishes. The passenger side door fitment is not perfect. There is a 1/8 inch diameter hole in the driver's bottom seat cover. The attachment bar for the convertible top seems to have lost its' threads, making securing the convertible top a bit tricky. The parking lights remain illuminated with the key off (we have not gotten around to fixing due primarily to the fact that we always use a battery kill switch.) Overall, this is a nice, driver quality example of the breed that defined the roadster craze in America, and will be an excellent addition to any enthusiast's garage.
