Vehicle Detail
1986 Ford Bronco XLT. It has a 302 (5.0) V8 with EFI, AOD trans, ford 9" rear. Manual locking hubs. It runs fine, the 4WD works good, it has brand new BFG all terrain tires that have probably only seen under 200 miles. New brake rotors/drums and pads all around. All new wheel bearings. Missing the trim on driver side. Has some rust and dents, but nothing major. Ran a history report on it, and there haven't been any incidents with the truck. It runs fine, but needs to pass smog. I've been told by two shops it needs catalytic converters (it has two) and an O2 sensor. The exhaust is also likely to have a leak, somebody made some poor welds on it in the past. I get a lean fuel system code when I run the self test with the code reader, which is consistent with what the both the shops' recommendations and an exhaust leak, but I am no mechanic. At this point, the truck has been placed on non-op as I cannot afford to put any more money into it. I'm selling the truck As-Is, as I don't have the means to smog it before I sell it. I have only had this truck for about a year, so I don't know too much history on it, but I have learned a lot and replaced a lot of things on it. I didn't drive it daily, only took it out on a couple short trips and to the Home Depot a few times. Here is the list of things I have replaced on it in the last 12 months:New Fuel Vapor Valve and grommet for gas tankfiller neck hosefuel tank boltsfuel filterSpark plugsSpark plug wiresDistributor cap and rotorThermostat and housingNew IAC valveAdjusted timing back to stock 10* BTDC with plug gaps at .044 (as required to smog)New BatteryNew TiresOil filterPCV valve and grommetSwapped in new/used EVP sensorVacuum lines changed to rubber hoseHeadliner repairedNew/used rear window New rear brakes (shoes, springs, cylinders, drums)New front brake rotors and padsNew front and rear wheel bearingsNew throttle position sensorNew battery cables and terminalsReplaced instrument cluster plastic coverThings I know it needs: 3 of the 4 brake hoses to the calipers/drums. We replaced only one when we did the brakes. The others weren't leaking at the time, and we were prepping for a camping trip so we just replaced what we needed. They don't leak still, but to be safe I would change them. Speedometer needs fixingPower locks need fixingThe steering is loose like you would want off-road, but on the freeway it's not so fun. I got used to it, but you could tighten it if you wanted to.Catalytic converters (if you intend to smog the truck) These are just things I was planning on taking care of. There is nothing it needs to get on the road. This is a solid truck that runs fine. Great base for a project, but it's also fine the way it is if you don't mind a truck that's a little rough around the edges. It's pretty capable both on and off-road, I've taken it on a couple trail trips with no issues. Buyer must arrange shipping options. I also have this truck for sale locally, so I may and the auction early. Thanks for looking!
