Vehicle Detail

NO RESERVE (More photos below) 1963 Studebaker 3/4 ton Champ Truck with V8 Engine and Rare 5 speed Overdrive Transmission This is a 1963 Studebaker ¾ ton Champ Truck with V8 engine and rare 5 speed Overdrive Transmission. Only 689 of these ¾ ton 8E12 Champ Trucks were built for 1963. The previous owner installed a rebuilt 259 V8 engine with R2 cam, but the truck also comes with its original 289 V8 block. More unusual yet is this truck was ordered with the heavy duty New Process 5 Speed Overdrive Transmission. Even with the 5 speed overdrive most of these trucks were not used for freeway driving and would require the optional 4.10 rear end ratio to go 65-70mph without winding up too much. This truck was ordered with the 4.10 rear end so it can drive fine on the freeway. The interior is nice for a driver! The bed has been used as a work truck. Great truck that is perfect for the job! The truck spent most of it's life in Eastern Washington dry climate. It has all new brake system as well as power brake booster. Could use a new exhaust system. This Champ was built with an optional 4.10 rear axle that makes it nice to go 65mph on highway. New radial tires make it ride and handle very well. Having the ¾ floating rear axle is beefy and much safer than the tapered axles on ½ ton trucks. The ¾ ton trucks also have heavy duty springs to carry large loads. A completely new Brake system with power brakes has been added for easy braking and safety. It also has a dual master cylinder, silicon brake fluid and a mechanical brake light switch. Of the few made, some were T4 models with plain painted trim and some T6 models with deluxe chrome like this one. It has a sliding rear window and the interior seats, panels and headliner were redone by previous owner. We've had the following done to the truck: The Steering Gear box was rebuilt and steers nicely. New Brake Booster New Dual Master Cylinder New Brake Hard Lines New Brake Flex Hoses New Front & Rear Wheel Cylinders New Front and Rear Brake Shoes New Front and Rear Inner/Outer Seals Repacked Front & Rear Wheel and Axle Bearings New Dimmer Switch New Oil & Filter New Oil Pressure Hose New Upper & Lower Radiator Hoses New Coolant & Thermostat New Rear Axle Cover Seal New Gear Oil in Axle and Transmission New Carter Fuel Pump & Fuel Filter New rubber fuel lines New Electric Fuel Pump New Coil New Spark Plug Wires, Rotor & Cap New Edelbrock 4 bbl Carburetor and Choke Cable New Valve Cover Gaskets New Air Cleaner and Filter New Vacuum Hoses and PCV Valve New Heater Hoses New Defroster Hose New Ignition Switch New Pertronix Electronic Ignition New Battery Cables & Shut Off Switch Cleaned & Sealed Gas Tank New Gas Tank Neck & Rubber Seals New radial tires & radial tubes New Locking Gas Cap New Seat Belts Things to consider: The blue mist metallic paint is fading and would look fantastic with new paint. It has some rust spots in front fender. Floors had prior patches welded in and could use nice rubber floor covering, or carpet. There are various dents and waves in the bed from hard work. The shifting pattern of these 5 speed takes a little practice to get used to it. It’s a real truck so not as soft ride as a car. Mufflers were custom made, and may need replacement if too loud for you. Radio not working. Rear sliding window could use new seals and doors alignment.
