Vehicle Detail
We got this car two and a half years ago. It has been great. Engine is strong, starts every time, no smoke, no check engine light codes. Leather interior is good, no rips, no tears, very little wear, heated seats work, AC works, sunroof works. Has good tires with about 15k miles on them. It's VA state inspection current until July 2015. Timing belt was changed at 225k along with intake manifold cleaning and new glow plugs plus the glow plug wire loom. Some bad stuff... There is a single long crack in the windshield. The paint is starting to go as seen in the pictures. The clear coat is commonly bad on these cars in these model years. The automatic transmission has started to act up. Sometimes it wants to slip in high gear going up a hill on the interstate or similar situation. Doesn't happen all the time. It will throw a check engine light code for torque converter lockup when this happens sometimes. Doesn't set the code every time. We have changed the fluid since we owned it but with this VW trans, you can only get half the fluid out or less at a time when you pull the pan off. It may need more changes, or tweaks. There was nothing strange in the pan when I pulled it off. Just gray material on the magnet which I understand is normal. This is my wife's car and she does not wish to drive it anymore. She is driving it now every day with no issues. It's still plenty driveable as is and can be driven home by you. Trans shifts like it should just has the one problem with the converter or something that makes it slip under high load in high gear sometimes. I have ordered a transgo shift kit for this problem. Conventional wisdom is that it will fix the problem. If car doesn't sell, I will install this kit. If it does sell, the kit goes with the car. I don't know if this is the original transmission. We got the car with about 265k on it. Car is comfortable and drives nicely. If you have questions, ebay has a complicated system you can use or you can call me 540-660-1209.
