Vehicle Detail

Alright...here's the story on this car. I bought a couple of cars from a really nice fella up in Minnesota. This was one of them. They'd been stored away for a REALLY long time. There was a shipping broker up there who said he could deliver all of the cars at a reasonable price. It took a while but it happened. The guys who took the load, it turns out, had just bought their car carrier literally the day before and I'm fairly sure did not have the appropriate commericial drivers licenses or ANY experience driving a big truck with hydraulics or air brakes. Somehow they managed to make it to Indianapolis where they took six tries to back it into my totally straight driveway. They couldn't figure out how to unload the cars because they didn't know anything about hydraulics but finally managed to get the cars off of the bottom deck of the hauler. Unfortunately, this car was on the top deck. After much head scratching, the fellas just activated all the ramps. Either the car was never secured or it was improperly secured because the second the upper bed tilted, this car come off the top deck of the semi at full speed with no driver or brakes....or insurance...because people suck.Anyway, the good news is that the car needed a general restoration anyway. The bad news is, it looks worse than it used to. Both of the rear quarter panels are curled under from the trip off the semi. The passenger front fender is torn at the bottom from the side of the semi trailer. The gas tank is dented from the same trip. My house suffered the rest of the damage.the GOOD news is that this is still a restorable car. You will not get nickel and dimed to death trying to find missing parts for this car because I believe it be ALL THERE. The missing door panel is in the trunk. It has a surprisingly decent interior for an old convertible with basically no top cloth left. All of the convertible parts are present and appear to be in decent condition. The body has the usual rust in the floors and they appear to have been poorly replaced once already, and the car will now need lower rear quarter panel patches and a new passenger side front fender. The frame appears fine. The hood and trunk lid are very nice. All of the bumpers and chrome are very straight and free of damage other than some pitting on some of the pieces. It was a western car that then moved inside in a very cold climate. The engine, transmission, etc, are complete and have not been exposed to elements. The car rolls, steers, and overall isn't horrible looking. The windshield and rear quarter panel glass are good. The dash and console are very good and free of cracks or damage which is rare and expensive to replace if they weren't nice. The side door windows are cracked but complete. The car has a very small tire on the drivers side rear that makes it sit at a funny angle in pictures. This car would benefit from a nice hardtop body donor to take the floors and lower quarters from and there's one listed on Ebay cheap right now. I got the car without a title but had a police inspection this evening that came back fine. But there is no title. Just a bill of sale and a Police inspection. I've tried to be as honest as I can with this unfortunate situation. Please ask all questions BEFORE the auction ends. I will gladly work with your shipper or recommend a shipper with an actual drivers license and insurance if you need one. I'm happy to sell to people out of the country with the usual exceptions of Nigerian Princes or other ficticious characters. I just "sold" this car last week for $2450 but the buyer was unable to complete the transaction. I put it up even cheaper this time because I want the space for something else. I've gotten a lot of questions in the last 24 hours regarding the Thunderbird so I thought I'd better clear up the ones I've gotten multiple times. The engine DOES turn over by hand with a wrench. I've not tried to start it. All of the convertible parts appear to be present and in very usable condition. The flip panel is in the trunk. I do NOT have hubcaps but believe the car to be complete beyond the hubcaps. The floors are extensively rusted and have been poorly patched once already. I believe the car was originally silver and it has been repainted red at some point. I did find bondo in the lower quarters when the damage occurred but those are going to have to be replaced anyway. Please ask any questions you may have BEFORE the auction ends as this is a NO RESERVE auction and the winner owns it. ADDITIONAL NOTE: If you have zero feedback, contact me BEFORE YOU BID or I may have to cancel your bid. I've been down that road too many times. IF THIS CAR DOES NOT HAVE BIDS BY THE WEEKEND, THERE IS A VERY STRONG CHANCE I'M GOING TO CUT IT UP AND PART IT OUT AS IT'S WORTH WAY MORE IN PARTS. IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT OWNING IT, LET ME KNOW BEFORE THE SAWZALL COMES OUT.
