Vehicle Detail

1969 International Scout 800a Well, this is the Binder y'all have been waiting for to come to Auction. This is the Scout that the early Bronco's wished we're never born! The 800's we're the true SUV that started it all and others tried to copy. The majority of these baby Scouts were the 4 cylinder model and although they we're great off-road vehicles, they were underpowered and tough to drive on today's modern roads and highways. This 1969 is the one to have! Not only is it the most desirable year and best looking model, but it's the super rare "V" model with very desirable V8. If your lucky enough to find one of these, they will probably be coupled with a manual trans which is actually preferred by the serious off roader...this has a 4 speed! These V8 models are getting increasingly harder to find that aren't total rust buckets an not to mention their values keep increasing year after year. I originally purchased this 800 to restore but my failing health has caused me to re-consider beginning the project. This particular 800 is very stout with an aggressive stance. It looks like it could be the ultimate hunting/trail rig. The BFG's are in great condition with plenty of tread and are 31x10.5x15. There is a massive 22,000 lb Thor winch on the front as well as a tow arm system. It has a super heavy duty drive train with Dana 30 up front and Dana 44 in the rear with power lock. Dana 300 transfer case with 4HI, 2HI, N & 4LO in perfect working condition. A custom 1/4" thick steel skid plate protects almost all of the undercarriage as well as custom skid plates for the front axle, tie rods and even the leaf u-bolts. The Scout does not currently run but did when I purchased it so, I know the motor is not hurt and it runs good and strong. In fact, it was a daily driver. While at my storage facility, some very nice folks decided that they wanted/needed the Scout carb more than I did and it's now MIA. In addition to needing a 2 bbl carb, the Scout is going to require some attention with regards to the fuel delivery system. The previous owner decided to have a fuel cell mounted in the cab. I have since removed the cell and I have the original passenger side gas tank that has been cleaned, inspected and pressure checked. My intent was to plumb the Scout the way it was originally so, the new owner will need to purchase: filler tube, sending unit and install the tank that I will include with the sale. All the fluids have been checked and brakes inspected...all in good working order. The Scout is equipped with Power steering which is a nice bonus and makes it a nice compliment to the manual trans. The power steering pump will need to be replaced and is currently not hooked up to a belt due to a worn pulley. The exterior is very solid and the only visible rust area is the tailgate and replacement tailgates can be found pretty easy on the net for around $150-$200. The Scout has its typical bumps and bruises from wheeling over the years but the only major dent/damage is a small area back by the passenger rear tail light...its dented in slightly but not bad at all. I'm fairly confident that it's never been a wreck...the hood, doors and all body seams are very nice and consistent. The interior has the 2 original front bucket seats but they will need to be recovered. They have temporary seat covers on them atm. The glass is all there and in good shape. There is even a built-in roll bar that has been integrated inside the top. This baby Scout is being sold at no reserve and the opening bid could very well be the selling price of this diamond in the rough. With only a few minor parts and minium labor, this beast can be back on the road in no time or a perfect candidate to restore. Don't let this great opportunity slip by. Hagerty Insurance said this about International Scouts in 2013: “International Scout SUVs are up by 85 percent” and that “vintage SUVs are going to be the next big trend in car collecting” (Hagerty Observes Significant Shift in Allure of Vintage Sport Utility Vehicles TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (April 11, 2013) PS-I'll even throw in the gun rack...
