Vehicle Detail
Spectacular well cared for 1993 Allante with the ever so impressive 295 horsepower Northstar engine. In 1993 these cars sold for in excess of $60,000 and were a Cadillac drivetrain under a gorgeous Italian Pininfarina hand crafted body. They were actually assembled in Italy and Detroit! Those are the same people who make the Ferrari bodies. With the Northstar, the Allante was faster than the Corvette in 1993. Let me say at the risk of self incrimination that this one still roars, and without being terribly specific about the test site, it can still accelerate at 125 mph…or so I am told. Let's just say that number was verified somewhere in Ohio in October, 2014 and leave it at that. Now the bad news. This is my seventh Allante, so I know these cars, and this is the best one I have ever had. But alas, winter is upon us and I have lost my storage space, and this car simply cannot be left outside. Ever. So make a reasonable offer in this NO RESERVE AUCTION and this beauty can be yours. Now to the specifics. Everything works…almost. I cannot figure out the cruise control or the CD player, but everything else is in perfect condition. That includes cold air, new brakes, new radiator, new tires, new ignition coils, power windows and seats both sides including lumbar support, great Cadillac stereo, automatic temperature control, interior lights and trunk pull down. The top looks like it was never up,it is in flawless condition, and the three motors that secure it work perfectly. The CD player does not work but the cassette works great, and my teenager just showed me how to use it to play tunes from my Apple I-phone. !! Leather is superb, the steering wheel and shift handle show some wear, carpeting is really nice, including in the trunk. One flaw. It has the usual 21 year old car nicks here and there, but the trunk lid is showing signs of sun burning through the clear coat. You can see the spots on the photos. I got a quote of $150 to repaint the trunk lid ,but quite frankly,I think it gives the car a degree of character. Aluminum wheels are in good shape and the tires have 90% wear left on them. Now for the drive. With the top down this car is a show stopper. I get stopped in the parking lots all the time because people want to know "what is it?" Put the top up and it becomes a polite quiet Cadillac, with the great soft leather seats found only in the 1993 model. Earlier ones had the Recaro racing seat, but quite frankly, ask anyone who knows about these cars and they will tell you…the 1993 is a sophisticated cruiser. Whisper quiet with the top up…and not a drop of rain even in the car wash…or roaring lion with the top down. And the mileage aint bad either…took her for a road trip Cleveland to Columbus and back….23 mpg on the road. My work car is a 2011 Cadillac STS, but quite frankly this one is more fun to drive. Needless to say it does not use a drop of oil. Remember, this Allante only has 63,000 miles on it. Passed Ohio E check with a phenomenally low emissions number with flying colors. I guess that is it. Oh wait. The passenger side mirror works just fine, but the upper case is loose. You would not know it if I did not tell you…but it is loose. Since it is still fully functional I am leaving it alone, but I truly believe in full disclosure. An identical car, right down to the color, just sold on ebayfor $9,100. There is another red on ebay right now with lower mileage for $11,900. That's why I have a starting price of $6,500. It will go for more than that, but let's be straight up here. I gotta sell this car before the weather hits….I just had it out with the top down today…can't keep my hands off her…but I am fairly certain that November in Ohio is not going to be all sunny.
