Vehicle Detail
1969 VW Westy Camper. California camper that is running with a new engine, clutch and complete brake system. NO RESERVE Nice desirable early bay window camper that runs good as-is. Drive it every day as you fix it up and make it really nice. This camper was ordered for local pick up in Germany when new and was driven around Europe for vacation and then shipped to California. Many people did this back in the 60's and 70's. The bus was issued its California license plate when shipped in and it still has it. Clear California title. I began to get it restored for the street. Complete rebuild of original 1600 single port engine, 50 miles on engine. New clutch, new factory exhaust and tail pipe, and complete new braking system, master, slaves, shoes, hoses. So starts easy and runs and stops well. New tires in the front (do you like the 356 wheels?) , new battery, new pop top seals installed, have new window seals. Headlights and wipers work but have not worked on tail lights yet. How about that vintage Grateful Dead sticker on the back window!! Needs new canvas top if you want it nice, needs standard body work and paint to make it look great, have a new wheel arch leg for driver side if you want to install it. There is a little rust I found in the usual areas, front lower apron has some, minor battery tray area, and below windshield surface rust (but not bad enough to have holes) etc., but no body rot holes, and solid rockers, floors, as California cars do not get rotted out by road salt and massive rainfall. just usual moisture areas have issues. I am rather picky. Most people do not even mention these minor areas on a bus this old. The bus was stored for 15 years when I bought it. It had a hit on left front lower nose sometime in its history that was not the best repair, see pic. Rather nice original camper interior, needs new panels, and includes the stool which usually gets lost along the way. Bus is not detailed so you see it in it's normal as-is condition needing cleaning. I fix up old cars like VW's in my retirement and save them. Not full restorations, but just get them running good and leave room for the next owner to work on it and make a profit. I sell cars fair and leave room for the next guy. I have a 100% feedback for this reason. The camper is sold as-is for this kind of money. You will not be disappointed. Not a high-end bus yet so not being sold for high-end money. I can deliver this bus to a shipper in Long Beach/Los Angeles port area for no charge for shipping overseas. Can store for 30 days while you find a shipper. Please comply with the payment schedule. Deposit in 24 hours, balance in 3 days. Please ensure this is the Westy camper you have been looking for. No regrets please. Can store it, but please pay for your purchase or we move to the back-up bidder. Thanks On Nov-02-14 at 07:48:28 PST, seller added the following information: Too many questions coming in, many similar. Let me answer a couple for all the buyers. For the overseas buyers asking about the shipping. I will deliver the bus to your shipping agent in the Long Beach/Port of Los Angeles, San Pedro area for no extra charge after the camper is paid. Yes, I can store it here for 30 days for any buyer here in the U.S. or overseas while you find a shipper. The surface rust right under the windshield has not eaten any holes in that lip. Easily ground off and fixed if you have the bus painted. You will pop all the glass and replace the seals after paint. The two small bumps you see on each side of the lower rear corners just inside the curve of the bumper corners are bumper mount holes. NOT rust holes. All normal. Engine is stock and rebuilt local. Has a 6 month warranty on it. New clutch and all new stock exhaust and tail pipe from Wolfsburg West, brake parts from them too. (Famous, big VW parts restoration place in Socal)
