Vehicle Detail
My beloved Passat Wagon is up for auction. If you're looking for a custom version of VW's popular Passat Wagon you are in luck. Just enough has been done for the car to be dependable and drivable for years to come - but you can still ratchet things up and make a few mods of your own if you wish. All modifications have been done by a former auto dealership service manager (me). Including the price I paid for the car, I have put nearly 12K in this little project of mine. The basics: 2003 VW Passat GLS Wagon, 1.8T, Tiptronic, leather, cold A/C, Monsoon audio system, sunroof, cruise, heated seats. Just past 91K miles. Always oiled with Mobil 1 synthetic. Battery is relatively new. This car is A++ for reliability. Sporty, fast, stops and turns on a dime and can haul a few hundred pounds of gear if needed (done it!). I've driven this mostly around town but also back and forth between St. Louis and Houston a couple of times. Like I said, this car is extremely dependable. The extras that I have "added" since I purchased the car in 2012: ST (subsidiary of K&W) coilover suspension (car sits at roughly 23.5" front, 24" rear ground-to-fender) Axis 18 x 8 wheels Continental ContiContact Extreme tires (less than 10K miles on these) 034 Motorsports adjustable upper control arms (and new pinch bolts!!) 034 Motorsports lower control arms New suspension bolt kit (front) Slotted rotors all four corners, EBC Green Stuff pads, synthetic brake fluid, stock calipers Transmission fluid and filter change (Redline D4 synthetic) Motoza Stage 1+ tuning ECU reprogramming Forge 007 diverter valve (black) VW 2.0T coil packs, NGK 'R' plugs Bosch 550 EV14 injectors (big enough for a bigger turbo!) Stock intercooler with wheel well airflow modification DieselGeek Panzer aluminum skid plate Full Techtonics Tuning stainless steel exhaust system (high flow catalytic converter and twin Borla mufflers) New O2 sensors New coolant temp sensor Aftermarket headlamps Euro headlamp switch (allows operation of parking lights only) Tinted windows (25% light transmittance, all windows) ECS antenna mast NewSouth boost gauge New Raxles axles (both sides) Air and cabin filters changed last month; wipers are new (SilBlade) I have original suspension parts if new owner wants them I also have a full Yakima rack system (Q Towers, bars and fairing) that I will sell for an additional $200 to the winning bidder, if wanted What's left? The turbo on this car is the stock and original K03. It still blows 17-18 psi on the Motoza tune anytime you want it...let's put it this way - you will have no trouble merging with traffic. Anywhere. The wastegate is a little loose (typical for these units after awhile, and you can hear it rattle on deceleration); in the grand scheme of things the turbo could be replaced sometime down the road, preferably with something that brings more wood to the fight...perhaps a FrankenTurbo...I'd do this if I end up keeping the car but honestly I don't know if I can carve out the time necessary to do this. The interior could be freshened, in my opinion. The leather on the front passenger seat (cushion only) seems a little rough and could be replaced if you were looking for perfect. There are two knobs missing from equalizer controllers on the Monsoon system, but the shafts are intact so function is preserved. Not a big deal, really. I've used this car to haul around my two 100 pound rescue Labradors on occasion, so the rear compartment area has some dog hair. The car will be professionally detailed for the new owner so this won't be a problem you take home with you. Repair notes: 1. Last week I discovered that the heater core supply hose is seeping coolant at the plastic coupling near the engine. This isn't unusual for 1.8T V-Dubs. I ordered a new OEM hose from ECS Tuning and this will be installed before the new owner takes possession. 2. I removed the glovebox assembly recently to repair the latch mechanism. This will be reinstalled this week. If you request interior photos please note that there may be a large "hole" where the glovebox usually fits if I haven't replaced it yet... :-) I can send photos of anything you want with a request. The car is going to be advertised all over the country on several websites and other outlets so I reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time. Local pickup is fine with me - I'm near St Louis, MO. Successful bidder will need to pay a deposit of $500 immediately with the full balance paid within 5 business days. Arrange financing, if needed, before you bid. Have a method lined up to pick up the car once it's paid for...I will not store it for longer than 2 weeks post-auction. Failure to comply with these terms will result in negative feedback, relisting of the car and any other course of action available to me. I really want to sell to a good home but I'm not going to stand for BS some Ebayers bring to the table. And check my feedback - other than some scam artist in Long Island who tried to cheat me out of paying for a used golf GPS unit years ago I've never had a negative mark. Last, contact me with any questions you may have. I have purchased two cars (Audi A4 and LR Discovery 2) on eBay over the years and this is the first I've tried to sell - figured it was okay since the last deals went through so well. On Oct-21-14 at 03:38:13 PDT, seller added the following information: ** Forgot to add that the timing belt has been replaced with a Gates Kevlar racing belt and the water pump is also new, replaced with a metal impeller version**On Oct-24-14 at 03:14:14 PDT, seller added the following information: KBB Private Party Sale Value on this car is around $3800-4000. And that's before you consider the upgrades (retail cost for upgrades = around $6000). I hope this helps with those who are trying to put a value on this car before bidding. Good luck!
