This is a classic, awesome, and hard to find 5-speed manual diesel pickup truck. I purchased this truck three years ago in Los Angeles (where it spent the first 30 years of its life), and drove it across the country to New York. Since then I've put 18,000 beautiful miles on it. The engine runs strong and gets 45-50mpg. I'm looking for a vehicle with more seating, so I must let go of this gem. This is a steady cruiser that has taken me all over the country, as well as all over New York City. It's my everyday vehicle. It's small, rugged, and reliable. Despite some cosmetic shortcomings, this is a great truck that's ready to run errands or drive hundreds of miles out of town. It does fine on the highways as well as backcountry dirt roads. You could turn this engine into a turbodiesel and I'm sure you'd have a blast. It comes with the shell. I have always had the truck serviced by Volkswagen specialists, and am happy to provide reports of all work done while in my possession (and some of the work done before I purchased it).
