Vehicle Detail

Up for Auction we have 2 1978 Datsun Z cars, selling them as a set. the limited Edition car is not in running condition, in the you tube I said that the transmission was out of it, that was not what i meant to say, the transmission is in it it just does't work and need to be rebuilt. I also said that the black pearl was the only color on the Z car, I meant to say the only color available on the Limited Edition car. The Other car runs but is a rust bucket and in my opinion should be the parts car. I have a clear title to both of the cars. The kid I got the cars from told me that the people he got the Limited Edition car from told him that the engine ran but transmission was bad in it, and he Never tried to start it, that he only bought it as a parts car. They had the Limited Edition sitting out under a Pine tree and the rust bucket in the Garage lol. I believe all the parts are here to build one cool little car. UPDATE!!! I found after a little research that only 850 to 1500 of the Limited Edition were produced in 1978. Until the very end of the run, that is. As it is with seemingly any outgoing model, even the popular ones, the marketing department comes in to trumpet some special edition or other as a way to cap off the run. The original Datsun Z-car was no exception. First was the Zap Z of 1977, named for the Z's ad campaign at the time a "special décor package" edition featuring bright yellow paint and striping down the hood and sides; roughly 1,000 were built. Pleased with this result, American Nissan created the "Black Pearl" edition (another special sports-appearance package) for 1978. There had never been a black Z-car before, even overseas, and the Black Pearl edition was used as something of a test market for this new color (paint code #638 on the firewall tag). Festooned with specific red and silver stripes over metallic paint, and equipped with twin side mirrors and louvers over the hatch glass, it was a striking version of the final Z. Actual production numbers are lost in time, but every Datsun dealer in America, all 850 of them, received at least one car; estimates run as high as 1,500 produced.
