Vehicle Detail
This listing is for a 1990 760 Turbo station wagon, which is the daily driver in the family used for transporting kids. The car is maxed out with the 1990 options list and everything works except the heated front seats. It has 217K on the odo and runs excellent. Starts up without a miss every day and shifts through all gears and OD as it should. A/C blows ice cold and heat is hot. The best thing about this Volvo is that it's unmolested--it has been maintained religiously using Volvo parts either by the dealer or the trusted local Volvo specialist for literally the last 20 years. We've used it daily for 2 years, but purchased it from our neighbors who were the second owners, and they bought it at original owner's lease-end. So we know and have virtually all of the history on this vehicle, and the binder is an inch thick. As you will see in reading the long service history, this car has (in the last 5 years) had an enormous amount of work done far exceeding the car's value--but it has made the car as reliable as the tides and very comfortable to drive. The car eats up highway miles like a freight train. We are sad to see it go, but are modernizing our fleet a little bit. This car can be driven coast to coast today; it does not need anything to go into normal daily use. MECHANICAL: The car is an original Southern CA car and has absolutely no rust anywhere. The entire underbody is tight as a drum. Engine runs and idles smoothly and is very strong, especially when you get into the boost. Like most of the B230 engines, the rear main seal leaks. It leaves a small spot each time we shut it off. Otherwise it's leak free. The engine bay is very clean and has no shady modifications or add-ons. The suspension and steering are tight, with no road wander or bushing/ball joint issues. Front bushings were replaced a few years back. No unusual noises or clunks--the sturdy Volvo suspension and chassis performs as it is supposed to. Exhaust system is tight and quiet. Turbo spools up just as it should. For the past 20 years the car has had oil/filter changes religiously between 3k and 5k miles, and it shows. It passes CA smog and was tested 4 months ago. It will be due for another timing belt next year sometime. INTERIOR: The tan leather interior is in very good condition, though the front seats are showing age cracks (see photos). The seatback wing on the driver's side is starting to wear out but is not torn. All of the leather in the car is soft and has been moisturized routinely. The window tint has also preserved the rest of the interior trim; door panels, dash and headliner are all in excellent shape with no tears or cracks. There are no missing trim pieces or panels. The velour insert on the front passenger door got screwed in with two screws at some point when the backing clips broke off during a window motor replacement...otherwise the interior is original. Carpets are in good condition and the fitted floor mats are only a year old. The radio and all gauges/lighting work correctly. All HVAC modes work correctly. All power door locks work correctly (including rear gate). All power windows work. Sunroof is getting pretty slow and tired but works. EXTERIOR: As you can see in the photos, the paint and body are in excellent shape. The paint is deep and bright. It has some hard water buildup and oxidation over the whole car from the daily grind, but it rubs out to a brilliant shine. All of the stainless trim and black rubber/moldings are intact and in great shape. The car has a set of VOXX 5-spoke alloy wheels from IPD that are the correct size and offset for Volvos. A 5th full-size matching VOXX spare comes with the car. Continental tires have about 40% tread remaining and are balanced correctly with no vibrations. This is an honest Volvo with no scary shadetree work history--it's a 24 year old car that is a testament to the old legendary Volvo cars that can still keep up with LA fast lane traffic without breaking a sweat.
