Vehicle Detail
up for auction is a 1 owner 1966 427 4 speed convertible. Louie bought it brand new in 1966 when he got out of the military. it was sold at a dealer in Hillsboro Oregon. Louie passed away in February 2011. the car had been sitting in the shop at the back of his property since 1981. His widow is selling the house that they had lived in for 40 years and now its time to let go of the car. the tags expired in 1982. the car hasn't been registered since. every few years he would put fresh gas in the car and take it around the block but that's about it. when we pulled the car out, the fluids were good and the tank was empty. I put a new set of points in it and it started right up. to be road worthy it needs some good tires, and change the fluids. I installed a new master cylinder and the brakes are working now but still feel a little spongy. some pictures are from when it came out of the barn and the rest are from when it was washed and buffed. while the paint is not a 100 point paint job, it still shows nice and turns heads. it does have some chips and stuff but still shines pretty good for its age. the hood is a 67 hood and the frontend has the grand sport look. that's the look he liked. the interior cleaned up very well but could use carpet. here is what I know. sunfire yellow 61k original miles #'s matching 390HP 427 4 speed AM/FM radio (works intermittently) power windows (slow but they work) power steering teak wheel power antenna (tries to work) hard top with vinyl covering soft top that has been stored in the trunk area. fabric looks great but window is yellowed. softray tinted windows original spare and jack handle. haven't found jack yet even the original air cleaner. when she decided to sell the car it was surrounded by stuff and tucked in the corner. the hub caps were hanging on a wall in the house. the windows were up and the doors were locked. this car is a time capsule. original stickers in the car on the glove box door, original stamping in the underside of the factory air cleaner. registrations dating back to 1972. in the pictures you will see all of this, including the garage where it was sitting tucked away. I am not a Corvette guy so I don't know everything there is to know about it. I will research anything you would like to know about it and take any other pictures you need. you are encouraged to call me with any questions. I can be reached at 503-519-7290 or 503-799-0666. I would love to show it to any serious buyers who want to see it and hear it run. again, if you need to see anything particular please let me know. phone is faster and easier for me.
